What happened to my motivation?

I have a full new year ahead of me. I've just finished a novel I need to have published by August, so there are going to be a lot of rewrites over the past few months. I need to make some decisions about my job. I need to take care of some other major personal issues.

For those reasons, I have been really powering through courses here on WA while I have this month to do it. Now, halfway through the month, I'm running out of motivation.

It will be back. Right now, though, I'm just tired. I need a little bit of respite, and it's a week before I'll get it. In two days, I move into the hotel where I work to be the acting manager while the boss is out of town. I'll be there for five days.

I think what's adding to my inability to concentrate is the knowlege I'm going to go see my kids next week. They're all grown, but I've always lived close to them. With the exception of the youngest, I haven't seen them in nearly eight months. I've never been so far from them for so long before, but proximity is one the things I lost when I lost everything last winter/spring.

I think my problem, at this point, is that I've kind of checked out. I've got so many things going on at once. I have so many thoughts rattling around. I really need a break. I think a few days with the kids, back in the beautiful state of Colorado, will be the break I need.

And, knowing me, the motivation could be back tomorrow with no problem. All I know is that it isn't here tonight.

Take a deserved break, and enjoy a recuperation period.
We all need it from time to time!

Kelli,
I have those days where I feel the motivation is not
ever going to come back - and it has not yet but not
for writing I am talking about my life and house - so
I do know how it feels :(
Take a break who knows this might be the thing that
motivates you for the next three years :)
Good luck and enjoy your family,
Susan

I'm realizing that part of my problem is that my niche is very easy for me to write. But now, as I'm working on my affiliate site, I have to become a journalist again and the words don't come quite as easy. Not that I have that figured out, I can move forward. But I'm still taking a break! :)

Kelli,
Better to take a break than get completely burned out :)
Take care and enjoy it!

That is very tough, too much going on at one time. I know you are pressed for time, but maybe you need to make sure you take one full day to take a break. Clear your head and relax. Take some time to do something you want to do just for you. :) Best of luck to you my dear!

I've felt similar the past few days. I haven't been on doing my training for a few days now. But I need to remember to not kick myself while I'm already down. I need to keep myself ready to move forward and instead of say "you didn't do anything for WA today", just each time say "what small thing can I do on WA today".
Typically when I do get on I do much more than I was initially planning on. But with how hectic everything has been the past few weeks I've had to go easy on myself.
So I would say the same. Hang in there and know that when you have time to give effort it is helping you 10x more than if you did nothing.
As things progress and move forward it is easier to engage and continually being active.

Yeah, I've tried to make sure I got on here and left some comments for people, maybe answered a question or two. I want to make sure I'm in the habit of getting on. Just like writing when I don't feel like doing it, I still make time to sit down in front of my computer even if all I do is rearrange two words and add a comma. Not much, but it keeps me in the habit.

When I go out to see my kids, I'll will be having my first days off since Thanksgiving. So, yeah, I'm a little drained, lol.

Keep up the habit, that's the big thing. Don't beat yourself up if you can't get on consistently. Take some time off and set a goal to get back on and do another push.
