Paraprosdokian - no it's not a swear word
I dunno about you but I had never heard this word before let alone knew what it meant.
You will probably have heard many of the sayings like the one to the right but did you know this kind of saying is called a paraprosdokian?
What makes it a paraprosdokian you may be asking?
This type of saying, or figure of speech, is a paraprosdokian because the ending is surprising or startling, and causes you to rethinking the first part of the saying.
My boss always says you should be able to go home if you learn one new thing each day, so that's it I'm off home.
So what has this got to do with building profitable websites, creating links or being a member here at WA you may be thinking?
Well nothing actually! Except I suppose that it is true that you can find and learn anything you want from the all knowing internet.
I'm actually just feeling a little light-hearted today and thought it might make for a nice change of pace to share something different. Perhaps one of these sayings will put a smile on your face or give you a bit of a chuckle as they did me.
And finally ...
I shall leave you something to ponder
I am going to make the cardinal sin now and not ask you for a call to action.
Enjoy your day everyone.

It's always good to have a giggle, there were so many of them that made me laugh I was hard pushed to stop at just including three.
Thanks for stopping by.
Even if it is useless information. You never know one day you'll be at one of those quiz night things and they will say what does paraprosdokian mean and you are going to look so smart Derek :)
You sure picked a good topic for this post. Now I've got to come by more often to learn something new everyday. Can I go home now too? Wait, I'm already home.
Looking forward to the day when I am my own boss, and already home too. Not sure I provide too much learning, I'm still the student myself.
Thanks for your comment.
Hee hee hee....I would guess you're not from Hawaii. Pigeon English here is our local language first before English.
Now did I make sense to you? Bet not.
Heidi come sit with a local Hawaiian and we'll get your head spinning with, "Whaa? Haah??? What did you just say?"
Heidi and that's just after you stepped off the airplane. Hee hee hee!
Love your post my friend!
frank =)
One day I just might take you up on that offer Frank, I'd love to be sitting in Hawaii with you whether we understood each other or not LOL.
Thanks for your comment.
Very interesting Heidi ! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work. Best wishes as you forge forward.
Hi Heidi
It sure gave me a chuckle! The last one is brilliant!
Paraprosdokians will definitely let our visitors stay longer on our websites too. ;-)
Onwards and upwards!

Thanks, Heidi. Its good to learn new things, especially when it comes to the English language. I've got some sayings that aren't paraprosdokians, so maybe you can classify them for me.
• Do you walk to school, or carry your lunch?
• Is it colder in the winter than it is in the city?
• How many fish are in the Dead Sea? True or false?
• Is it shorter to Minneapolis, or by bus?
There's more, but I'll stop here.
Make it a joy-filled day!
Hahaha I do believe these are called random sentences Allan :) and absolutely hilarious at that. I am so going to use one of them next time.
You have definitely made me laugh. Thank you.
Check out my latest blog. It will give you something to ponder.
