How To Find A Niche Product To Sell Online - Knowing Your Niche!

If you know your niche and you live it yourself finding niche products to sell online becomes an everyday occurrence.

This is just one of the reasons to choose a niche which is your passion, over one you think is likely to make a hefty profit.

Let me give you a couple of examples.

Many of you know my niche website is for new horse owners. Horses are my passion and honestly it was a no-brainer for me to choose this as my niche.

Before WA I used to spend every waking minute talking, doing or thinking about horses (now it's split between horses and affiliate marketing lol).

Smart Watches & Horses

What's this got to do with the watch in the image? Well my wonderful partner bought me an Apple watch for Xmas (I know very spoiled!). What's that got to do with new horse owners you ask?

Exactly! If you didn't know the niche you would probably think well it's got nothing to do with horses.

But this watch has fall alert. If you take a heavy fall, and do not acknowledge the alert, it will

call prearranged numbers. It can also call emergency services and because of the tracking in the watch they can find you anywhere.

How much extra piece of mind do you think that would give to new horse owners?

I know many horse riders ride alone. I know they also ride out off their properties. And I know it is a worry that if you come off your horse you may not be missed for quite some time!

And that's just one of the great features that makes it perfect for horse owners. I won't go on about them here because that's not the purpose of this blog.

But the bottom line is because I live this niche I know what they want and I am 100% convinced now that I have tested the product that it is perfect and every horse owner should have one.

Anyone feel a product review coming on?

Multi-Level Toolboxes and Horses

You know those really big multi-level industrial tool boxes on wheels? They make fantastic grooming boxes for horses. I know this because I have one and I use it daily.

When you've been wandering around the hardware shop have you ever looked at those and thought "hey that would make a great horse grooming box?" Probably not, unless your into horses.

And luckily for me Amazon sell them too!

Live Your Niche

Many people would think that my site would only sell horse products, grooming brushes, halters, horse specific items. But if you live your niche you will know what other "out of the box" products work for your people.

If you choose a niche based on profit alone and you have no love, or intrigue to know about, your niche you will miss the valuable insight that others who live and love your niche have. I honestly believe this is what sets those websites apart from every other site in that niche.

You will not experience first hand the problems they have. While you may be able to deduce what those problems are, and how to solve them, you will not have felt the reality of those problems and you will not be able to speak from your heart and empathise with your niche.

We are so switched on to BS these days, we can see it coming a mile away. We can also feel the warmth and generosity from the content we read and we instinctively know if it is coming from a place of good will and a genuine willingness to help.

My parting thought for newbies is to keep this in the forefront of your mind when you choose your niche. Any niche can/will make money and by choosing, for your first niche, a passion and something you live and love everyday you will go a long way to setting yourself up for success.

Did you choose a niche based on passion? Did you not? Let us know what your thoughts are on passion vs profit alone niche selection.

Are you having problems finding niche related products to promote? Or not sure how to promote the products you are considering?

Drop your queries and thoughts in the box below and let's see if we can help each other.

One last thing: Once you have worked through the training and your first niche site is set up and making you the money you want, by all means go right ahead and choose a niche based purely on potential income.

But to start out I really feel this is fraught with danger, because it makes everything just that bit harder and your site then becomes a chore instead of a work of art.

Great post, and so true! One can really tell you love and live your niche and that is awesome!

Hi Jessica, my apologies I have only just seen you comment. Oh I do love the time I spend with the horses and now getting to blog about my passion as well is simply fantastic.

Can't wait till I can do it as a full-time gig.

Thanks Heidi. Makes perfect sense and I've learnt new things from reading this. Appreciate it.

Glad to be of some assistance Grace, and pleased you enjoyed the blog. Thank you for stopping by for a read.

Loved it when you wrote, "Live your niche". This is what we should all do to bring authenticity to our writing.
Great post, Heidi!
Don't know much about them, but we love horses, too!
Have a healthy, happy, successful 2019.
C & P

I feel very privileged to be able to live my niche and once I am doing this full time for a living I will be the happiest kid in town :)

My very best wishes to you guys for a super successful 2019.

Great post, Heidi.

I'm already thinking a home webcam system so that people can watch their dogs while they are out.

Thank you for that inspiration.

Steve.

I seriously looked at one of those for my horses. My older horse had a seizure and I wasn't sure if he was having them during the day when I wasn't there so we started looking into putting cameras around the stables.

Great product choice, we pet people spend some considerable money on our fur-kids :)

Awesome content . Thanks for sharing . Very informative also . Wish you lots of abundance . Love the combination idea Horses & watches .

Thank you so very much, I am really glad you enjoyed it. Wishing you every success with your sites and your online business.

Thanks for you the same .

First, a niche has to be something you are interested in or want to know more about. If a niche doesn't interest you-you will find it boring. Why would you want to work at a boring job?

If you have expertise in your niche it makes developing your website so much easier. You will already know your stuff and won't have to do so much research.

Above all don't get hung up on choosing your niche. Just pick something that interests you. Then research it to see what kind of products are available to sell. Pick a product or a tightly focused group of products, and set up your website to promote that tightly focused product line.

Our weekly Friday afternoon training just reviewed how to find your niche products to sell. He chose to work with glasses that help color blind individuals see color;. I didn't know there was such a product. Jay found it in a simple Google/Jaxxy search.

Pick a product that interests you and promote it. Just get started.

It is necessary to just get started Bill but if you find you are barking up the wrong tree it will be time wasted. Still better once you realise that you don't feel anything for the niche to stop and reassess.

Sometimes you can steer it in a direction you do love, but sometimes you just need to ditch the site and start again.

Thank you for stopping by for a read and leaving your comment.

I'm with you Heidi. It has to be a passion of mine. Otherwise I would dread writing 1000 word posts. It's more than just the money to me.

I tried a money only niche and got 2 posts written then I just couldn't bring myself to write. I grew to detest the niche, ain't no way that's gunna work!

I hear ya.

Right on-- write about something you love. Good going...

Makes it so much easier that's for sure Fran :)

Thanks Heidi, I tried to stick to something that is a passion of mine. Still seeking to find additional affiliate programs.

Thanks for the comment Harvey, if you need a hand please feel free to PM me with details of your niche and the types of products you are considering. I'm happy to help if I can.

Hi Heidi,
Enjoyed your post. You made some very good points. If you don't know your Niche then you will certainly struggle with your post and website.
Donna

I tried and found it so hard I have mothballed that site and will probably never go back to it, but that's a whole nother blog lol.

I'm sure some people can do it just for the money, not me though apparently.

Thanks for stopping by for a read I'm glad you enjoyed it.
