Act As If What You Do Makes A Difference

If you have been following me for a little while, you will know I am a strong believer in using FB for business and to drive traffic to your blogs. If you have been putting into practice some of the tips I share to drive Facebook traffic you will be getting messages from people asking for your help.

This works the same here at WA. If you are blogging here or answering questions and participating in the live chat you will have people in your inbox looking to you for guidance.

Act as if what you do makes a difference❗️

Your sole intention when responding to those people is to help and serve them … not to sell them❗️

The advice you give can set them on an upwards trajectory and really make a difference to their business.

Ask questions, get to know the person, 👫 find out what they struggle with and if you can help them then do your very best to do so. This MAY include a referal to your offer, if you genuinely believe it is in their best interests, but you must enter into every relationship with an air of servitude, not sales.

I get so many messages both here and on FB from people throwing out links to their sites or offers when they haven’t even asked if it's something that might be able to help me or that I am actually interested in knowing about.

This "method" and I use the term loosely, will not make you sales.

Don’t waste my time and yours❗️

Please always remember that you must have the best interests of that person at heart because what you do and say does make a difference❗️

It's so true! It is important that the people who come to us feel supported and help rather than like a person facing a salesperson who absolutely wants her/him to buy something. As you wrote so well, our first mission is to provide solutions and support. This is how people can trust us and may want to learn from our experiences to move forward.

Ingrid

Absolutely Ingrid, help and support always, if what you offer can further help them ONCE you understand their problems then by all means go ahead and tell them. It is your obligation to help them as much as possible, and your offer just might do that.

What I know doesn't work is "link barfing" as Twack so descriptive puts it. Let's be real how often have you ever clicked on a random link without some sort of communication before hand?

The term I heard recently was 'Link barfing' which summed it up quite nicely I thought.

Zig Ziglar's quote comes to mind.

"You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want."

I'm not sure every one 'gets it' but your post has a powerful message within.

Yep that is a very apt and descriptive term. And it just doesn't work!

I've got that quote on my website Twack, I try to live by it because I believe it is 100% true.

Totally agree, on both counts.

Awesome post Heidi. If we are naturally caring it should emulate through our discussions and posts. When we are more about caring for the individual then the best comes back to each.
My saying has always been in sales and life, " give to receive". In this way we know the true intentions and helping is not an act but a way to show that we are here to help.

So very true if you genuinely want to see people succeed, success for you is guaranteed

So very true Heidi. Thanks for the great reminder.

A reminder as much for me as everyone else.

Totally agree that connections really matter and no one likes getting sold to. Great post!
