Hi Heidi, I have not run into any site feedback problems.

Michael

I’m glad to hear it!

Yes I think so. I left many feedback requests a while ago and got no answer so I deleted all my requests After two months. I hope it work for you.

Thanks for sharing! That is so interesting. I actually didn’t even think about deleting the requests 😄

You will get credits back to use on site comments instead. Lol.

Yeah, I think there is a backlog on SITE Feedback. I had requested a lot a couple of months ago yet still hasn't received any.

That makes sense! I hope yours come through soon.

I have not had this happen.

I hope it doesn't happen to you!

Thank you very much

Dear Heidi,

There seems to be a major problem with site feedback at the moment. Please see this blog related to my 404 problems that i believe are site feedback related. They are looking at what i have said and as usual are doing their very best: Havng spent most of the day on site feeback issues (& wifi connection problems), your blog here made me smile! :-)

Have a great day.

Ahh, thanks for sharing your post! Yep, sounds like I'm jumping on the bandwagon of site feedback issues haha.

I'm sure they'll get us figured out!

Thanks again!

Heidi

I`m sure they will. Have a good one.

Best Wishes,

Trevor

Thanks! I hope you have a day as well:)

I have been debating this question for months now. I'm coming up on a year with WA and I really don't like the domain name I bought.

I agree. Change it if you don't like it. I've recently wrote a post on my website spesifically addressing the domain name issue. You're welcome to have a look at it.

Not placing my post here but you can find a link to my website on my profile page under "Follow me on"

Have a great day.

I'll take a look at your post, thanks for suggesting it!

The bottom line is that if you don't like your domain name, it's better to change it sooner rather than later :)

The process is pretty simple and done correctly there may be a drop in traffic for a few months but then it'll settle out once the move has completed.

All you need to do is purchase the new domain, point it to your website, then set up a 301 redirect from your old domain to the new one.

Test the redirect by making typing in variations of the URL and making sure that it redirects to the same location on the new site. Example olddomain.com/post-1 should go to newdomin.com/post-2 etc.

Tell Google your site has moved in Search Console once you've checked the redirects work OK.

Keep the redirect in place for as long as possible. The ideal is to keep it in place forever, but one a small site with minimal traffic, 1 year should be more than enough :)

I figured now would be better than later. I still don't have any traffic, so I'm not too worried about losing any. :)

I'm sure there are trainings on how to do the redirects- I'll be looking those up haha.

Thank you for sharing your input!

I plan on doing this when my expires as well

Hey Heidi,

I transferred domains earlier this year. I did because I found that it was too specific to my niche and I needed a domain name that was more broad in the content that I was blogging about. And the second domain domain was much better one - I too picked my first domain name when I didn't know much in the beginning, and never really liked it.

I haven't thought about keeping the first domain since I'm not going back to it. I just need to remind myself to turn off that "Auto Renewal" setting in my Domain Dashboard.

I hope this helps!

Isaiah 😊

Great answer

That does help, thank you Isaiah! It sounds like I’m in the exact boat you were in:) I feel restricted and I just don’t like the current domain name!
I just wondered if I had to keep paying for the first domain because the urls are directed at it, but if they can all be redirected I would prefer that!

Hello Heidi,

Long time no see my lady and trust all is well with you all!!

Just before you jump from the pan into fire please consider this. The head of trend analysis at google has confirmed just in the last couple of days that your domain URL does not figure in ranking and as such does not require keywords. since it does not figure in the ranking it follows that it really doesn't matter what it is called either.

I know you may wish it to be more closely aligned with the business or a catch name only it really is not worth the effort or possible pain to migrate to a new site with a new domain name.

Just wanted you to consider that in the mix before you pull the trigger. The choice is of course always yours as you are the boss!! ;

The young one must be a real handful by now!! lols

Really good to see you, Heidi!!;

You all be well and stay safe!

R.

That is a good thing to know, Rami! I will certainly take that into consideration as I weigh things out here. I really appreciate it!

My little one is definitely a handful! Luckily she's cute:)

It's good to hear from you too!
Thanks again!

You are most welcome my lady!! ;

Hello!

I have created a new opt-in form through my email provider to put into a blog post. I followed all of the steps, but it isn't showing the image along with the word

The 1100px container that you're referring to will be the main container of the page. This container can then hold other elements, such as the content container and the sidebar container.

So with a 1100px main container, you could have a 1000px content area & 100px sidebar, or 600px content area & a 500px sidebar, etc.

So you need to make sure that the actual content area itself is 768px.

BUT... If the email provider is telling you that the content area needs to be 768px, then their opt-in form is likely not mobile responsive (as it should automatically resize to any container size)... This means that it may be better utilising a plugin to display your opt-in form instead of using the code provided by the company.

Oh I see! Thanks for explaining that!

It's strange because I have used other forms from them that worked just fine, so I'm not sure what disconnected here.

I'm trying to avoid more plugins where possible, just to keep things running as smoothly as possible :)

Totally get that, well an option would be to manually edit the code they've given you. If you see something such as "width:768px" in the code, this is a fixed width... Meaning it's not responsive. To make it responsive, simply change its width to a percentage, ie "width:100%" which will make it 100% the width of the container its in. So as the page resizes, so does the email form :)

That’s a good idea, thank you! I’ll tread carefully with editing code, it scares me a bit haha.

Hey Heidi,

Is your image no more than 768 px wide?

It is only a guess, but if you have a container that is 1100 px and your image is OVER that... then that MIGHT be your issue.

Hope this helps youl

Flodesk sounds more like an autoresponder than an email provider.

That does make sense! I'm not sure how to check that, but I'll look into it. It is part of a form created through Flodesk. You are correct, I believe they are an autoresponder! (I was probably calling them the wrong thing as an email provider :))
Thank you!

Reason I guessed at your widths not corresponding correctly as I have caused this issue myself, but once I changed the widths to match... POOF!... solved.

That makes sense! I appreciate you sharing your experience!
