Note To Self - Take Your Own Advice!

Do you ever wish your own brain would listen to its own advice? Go on. Admit it. Raise your hand if the shoe fits. Seriously. I'll admit it. Shoot, I'll shout it from the mountaintop! I keep dishing this advice (and I'm always giving it to myself first and foremost), but sometimes, I don't let it sink in!
Huh?
Yep. From the mountains, I'm shouting tonight, "Just listen to yourself"! About what, you ask? Let me share a secret with you - only if you're interested. Actually, it won't be a secret any longer, but it's worth sharing.
Focus.
Just yesterday for my website, I wrote an article addressed to stay-at-home mamas about maintaining focus, specifically if they were homeschooling. You see, it's become an issue for me, and part of me being at home with my kiddos allows me to teach them. It's great! (But I also want to build this business!)
I say all the right things, and my advice seems to make so much sense. Even to myself! Do you think my brain can just settle and focus? Nope! In my writing, I compared myself to a squirrel, chasing after one nut and then several others.
For example, let me give you a snapshot of my last 17 minutes. Log in to email. Check all emails and respond to new followers. Read and comment on blog posts. Check to see if there are any site comments available. Welcome new WA Premium members. Reply to other messages. Check to see if there are any site comments available (I know I already did that; I had to check again). Leave a site comment. Approve organic comments to websites. Read through a couple new trainings. Respond to a couple emails.
Whew!
You see? SQUIRREL! My brain is no different from having 1,238 tabs open at once in my Chrome browser! Jeepers. I can't handle myself sometimes! I did just drink some coffee; that could be part of the problem. However, here's the problem: When I logged in to WA, my INTENTION was to write a new article for my website. As you noticed, I haven't even begun that yet.
Someone Please Validate My Behavior
Ha! Tell me I'm not completely insane! I don't think it's wrong that I'm meandering about within the platform. However, I do know that I need to focus on producing relevant content for my websites. I do so enjoy lingering around here learning from you and welcoming our newbies! If I'm honest, I'm addicted. Boom! I said it.
I love WA. You already know that if you've read my other WA blog posts. I just can't stay away! The friendships I have made and the encouragement I've been receiving just keeps me coming back for more! At the top of that list is the knowledge I just keep soaking in. I feel like a sponge. (A squirrely sponge.)
Anyway, I just wanted to share these thoughts in hopes that I could now settle to focus on writing some content! Perhaps you feel the same? Perhaps not. Maybe you've got it together. If so, could you please share your tricks and secrets? Is there a 'calming nut' out there I can chase?
Thanks for reading, friends! I'm off to try to FOCUS! Closing at least one tab...
Ciao For Now,
~Heidi
Well 45 minutes of that was email..looking through WA..asking and posting a question that basically i already knew the answer too..
So that 90 minutes of actually work ie making and wfiting a new page for my site was only about 30 minutes...'did i finish NOPE now i have to finish tomorrow.
Lol dont be too hard on yourself i have been here over a year now and sometimes the squirrels get in the way.
I find the Google chrome countdown timer very efficient and keeps me in line, while blogging here is important it is equally important to keep some writing juice for your website which is the main reason we are all here...wishing you continued success 👍
