Security, security. Protection against robots and malware
Before I came here to WA I had already several websites, now hosted on Bluehost. I got a mass of comments lately on one of my sites, which didn>'t really seem to fit, although they didn't seem harmful either. My last blogpodt was about that.
Maybe it has to do with these comments on one of my sites.
Today I got the notification that my server has suspended my account, no access to my sites (not on WA).
So now I was on the phone with a security guy for almost an hour and need to pay to fix it and then a monthly quote for security so that the websites cannot be hacked again.
Maybe YOU give it a thought before it happens to you, too!
Also 2-step verification for WP might help. I didn't do it, because then it is impossible to have a VA helping you as with every login the code comes to my cell phone and we would need to be in communication, difficult between continents and time zones.
I have 2 step verification on G+/Youtube after a horrible thing had happened to a colleague show host whose channel was suspended for many weeks. In the meantime I got several messages with login - codes, which I had NOT asked for. MEANS: someone else had found out my password and had tried to get into my account. which was not possible as he didn't have the code.
Maybe we really need to think more about security and be more attentive to strange comments and delete them immediately instead of just mark them as spam? (or worse: publish them)

Good site Heidi. I knew back in the 00's that the Chinese and Korean mindset would generate the largest cyber offensives. It has actually proven to be the case.
I delete it all as soon as I see it.
Right to mention about virus defender. I worked in my country till 2 months ago in Security technology (plus more things) company. We got information from a company which keep statistic about how virus defender performance. What shock me was that windows defender only get 60%! Because I know that many people use it only. So stay safe all of you!

And do you think, here in WA the sites are safer than somewhere else? Or does everyone need to consider the safety and do something extra?
Personally, I think WA is very safe, but I don´t know it per se. What I had in mind were the personal computers. Use good virus defenders software. We have so many things in it and need to stay safe.

Thanks, Heidi, for highlighting what we all need to be concerned about. Seems these people get more sophisticated every day and it is important that we consider what levels of security we need to maintain on our site. Thanks for sharing.

I believe this will become a major problem in the future. I have also complications with my site which I took over from a German server to an American. Now I cannot transport the .de domain and therefore not use the full protection service they offer. Maybe I have to go back to the German server, but then my Engllish speaking Website helpers cannot communicate with their support. All tricky problems which steel energy from the real work. Too bad,
