"Real life" and being online - how to bridge the gap?

Since I entered this community 9 days ago my permanence at the internet has increased immensely - although I sat on my chair with a squeezed bud already for hours every day.

It is fascinating what we can learn here at WA and the level of support which is offered! I got many answers to my questions and once in a while I discover that I know the answer to some question, too - and I am completely astonished. (I must have learnt something during the last 2-3 years with working on websites and with Google Hangouts etc.!)

But where is my old life gone? On hot summer days I lay outside under the huge mulberry tree, reading a book and enjoying some breeze and welcoming the evening with its fascinating possibility to be almost naked, lying outside on the open terrace and watching the stars?

Internet, live streaming, business online, EMAILS and what not is eating the beauty of nature. Well, yes and no. At the end it is our decision when we stop, get up from the chair and do something else.

But it is hard. We are in online-dependency, a modern disease which can be healed only by getting out of the stress which we create for ourselves by believing all those gurus who try to tell you that YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH - only to sell their programs. BTW: WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

I guess, sometimes we do similar things to our clients, as we want to eat, too. But we should be aware that not everyone is able to get off the hook and make a free decision, and that we might cause great suffering by an unconscious way of just following our own interests.

What are your thoughts about that? How do you bridge the gap?

Great topic Heidi. I find that hitting the trail for 5 or 6 hours is a wonderful way to right size me. Also, my wife is not shy about telling me, "you've been on that computer too long come pay some attention to me."
Good fortune
Richard

Yes, we need to remind each other to STOP. We often just change program and, in the evening, still on the computer, but together, we watch talks, films or music like at the moment every day wonderful live concerts on medici.tv

Hi Heidi
Very good point
You need to be focussed, prioritise, have a plan
Still take time to lay in the sun under the mulberry tree!
Deb

Hi Debra,
Thanks for connecting with your comment!
Good point, Debra. My "problem" has always been that I have too many interests and I try to do the impossible: bring them together, somehow.

The site I have begun here is only a hobby of mine. I guess, when I have understood how all the stuff works I will go to the field of my real expertise and try to get my work into the world.

Sounds like a great plan Heidi
In the meantime enjoy "the now" and smell the roses as well
Deb

I guess the way I look at it is if you work an 8 hour day in a job then that is probably the time you should spend here with weekends off and going on holidays too....

It's such a tightrope-walk, Heidi, how much is too much, and how much too little?

BTW, you sure got the hang of blogging here, you're doing great!

Cheers,
Therese

Thanks Therese! I am learning to WRITE quite quickly. In former times a blog post took me days.....
Thanks for the thumb up!
Heidi

Most welcome!☺

Work long, hard hours now to reap the benefits in the future :)

Hi Heidi.
Yes you are right, following the programme religiously means having to spend more time at the keyboard and less time relaxing. I know that this can sometimes be frustrating but I look at it this way.
If I spend 1 or 2 years working part time to perfect my 1, 2 or maybe even 3 websites - then I can spend as much time as I want enjoying my life. Not sure if you agree, but this is what keeps me motivated and excited. Take care.
Lynn

Yes, I agree, sure! The thing is that I am already in my fourth year trying to create something online by learning a lot of stuff in courses which I have payed a lot for - and which at the end haven't really brought me further in a tangible way. As a good German I can work really hard - and I have several other things at the same time like cooking for guests in our Paradiso Integrale -. Only sometimes I get nostalgic about the past times without internet..........
