Can you flip your articles on Flipboard or Medium?

In the past there were many blog posts here in WA praising the advantages of Flipboard. I got interested in it and created an account which worked well for some weeks. Then I couldn't access anymore my account and needed to create a new one.

But this is not what I am really interested in, but the question:

WHY CAN'T I FLIP ANY OF MY ARTICLES FROM ALL OF MY SITES HOSTED HERE IN WA?

The chrome extension doesn't work anymore and gives me a constant error message. Flipboard replied to my inquiry that there must be some protection from the hosting against crawling the sites.

Does this happen to anyone of you, too? I know from other 2 WA members that they have the same problem.

Or medium.com, an important platform to share your articles. Not copy and paste, but by importing them. And also there: no way to get my articles crawled and show up in that platform.

I am wondering if you could check out your own sites hosted on WA if they respond on the Flipboard extension or able to be crawled by Medium? And I would also be very pleased if you could try with one of my websites and see if they work from your site.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Hedi, great post. Irv.

Thanks everybody for your answers. I have the same problem with Medium. Here the answer I got from Flipboard support, maybe you can figure out what could be the case:

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble flipping content into your Flipboard magazine. Below are some example of why this may be happening:

1. The site may have a robots.txt file in place disallowing non-traditional browsers, like Flipboard, from extracting information from their site. We honor those .txt files.

2. The owner/administrator may have a firewall in place to make sure his site isn’t receiving so much traffic that it causes their site to slow down or crash.

3. There could be automatic rules put in place at the domain level by the web host limiting certain type of activity on that site.

4. If, while trying to retrieve content from a site, we receive sporadic error messages, Flipboard’s crawlers will stop attempting to do so.

5. In rare cases some domains do not allow Flipboard to extract content at all.

6. In very rare cases there is a problem on our end extracting content properly from that URL.

If you are the site administrator, you may want to check with your hosting provider to see if there are any rules in place blocking Flipboard from visiting your site.

I hope you can get it sorted out Heidi...
I have not opened an account with them yet...

Flipboard, Pinterest and Yummly stopped working for me about a month ago. I don't think it is a problem with the apps since it is working for some people.

I have same problem - I think it is problems with Flipboard right noe

I just flipped an article from my WA hosted site with the chrome extension and it worked for me. I keep forgetting about Medium so I haven't been sharing there.

Have you checked out Niume? I share my articles on there. You are allowed to post articles from your site (copy and paste) but you have to add a note at the end saying where the article originally appeared and that you are the creator. You can't copy and paste articles from other cites, even if you give credit.

Thank you, Tanja Rita for that information. I am glad it works for you" I haven't heard about Niume, will check it out. Thanks again!

You're welcome.
