Developing Discipline

There are four areas in your life that you should introduce discipline, these are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual if you want to be successful. Having been athletic most of my life, I use the athlete as an example of developing discipline to achieve success. This concept applies to any area of your life that success or failure could be the outcome

When I watch a gymnast or figure skater and they succeed in accomplishing that backflip on the beam or a triple axle on the ice, I am always amazed how easy they make it look. Having been a competitive athlete I know that it was not that easy to accomplish, and what it takes to make it look so simple. To accomplish that backflip or triple axle, you have to develop the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual discipline necessary, because you will fail several times before you nail whatever it is you are attempting to achieve.

I am sure you can think of many more areas that you will require what I call discipline, but these are the ones I have tried and continue to develop to be successful in whatever it is that I try.

You should look at Wealthy Affiliate (WA) as being no different or any business for that matter from how an athlete Trains to be a champion. It is rare that success happens ]over night, especially while we sleep. We need to develop that physical discipline to train the body to do the impossible. We were not created to go backward through the air or spin three times in the air before landing. But with continuous practice, we can and do. Not all of us are great at writing, but with sufficient practice we can train ourselves to become what we are not. I have read how busy some of are due to our commitment to a full-time job/career. If you know most young athletes they also are committed to school and graduating. When do they find time to practice? Usually, they get up earlier than most to head to the gym or skating rink. Most successful people are up anywhere from 4:00a.m. or 5:00a.m. They make the time.

Mentally, and that mind is a very strong organ, whether you succeed or not, it does not take sides. If you have doubt or fear, that is what will win. You have to train the mind to think positive and take control, especially each time you fail. You have to will your body to get back on the beam or get up off the ice and try it again and again. "Mind Training," is the discipline you have to cultivate to remove the doubts and fears, whether your website will be successful or not. Change the negative thought waves to positive ones, like so many of our WA colleagues blog about each day, but only

Emotional discipline is just as hard as the other two, some would say harder. You fall and hurt yourself, and you will more times than you can imagine, doing the backflip, or triple axle. Your mind will tell you that it hurts why don't you take a break or stop for a couple of days, emotionally you start to cry because deep down you know if you do, that will be it, the intensity of the pain will grow stronger, doubt will start to set in as to whether you can do it and failure starts to raise its ugly head.

To slay this two-headed monster, with the emotional assistance of your coach/WA members you have to pick yourself up, and as the song says "dust yourself off," and start all over again.

We could say that spiritual discipline is the easiest, but that would not be true. It is as hard as the others. You have to believe in what you want. Not just say it but actually, believe that you can. You have to believe that what you are doing will eventually lead on the path of success. You cannot let a few falls or stumbles break you will or spirit. This is hard because only you can maintain your spirits no one else.

As stated earlier, success does not come overnight but eventually, and that is the keyword, "eventually," it does because you have built the courage, determination and the discipline to succeed.

Beautifully written, Harvey and I couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for sharing and the gentle reminder.
Much success to you, always
Michelle

Your post really hit the mark, as a retire ballet teacher I 100% agree with it. Muscle memory is important and that requires dedication and a willingness to try and try again......... over and over again until it looks and feels effortless.

I'm learning a new skill at WA....... practice makes perfect.
As the little train said I think I can, I think I can then came I know I can, I know I can.........

I'm enjoying this exciting and rewarding training at WA

Shona, I would not even attempt to categorize dancers. They are a group onto themselves. I read somewhere once that dancing probably uses the most muscles in the human body than any other activity. I do know they are also in the most pain at the end of their career. Yes Wealthy Affiliate is a whole new game and a steep learning curve, but with the discipline you learned as a ballet dancer and coach I am confident I will see you at the end. Thanks for reading my post.

Awesome post! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Peony

My apologies for the additional words at the end of the post. Tried Grammarly for the first time. Thought I had deleted the edits, but I guess not.

Tried but each time I republish they come back. Will learn how to correct it for the next time.

Just goes to show, robots can't replace man! LOL
I thought it was some type of code for THE END.
lol
