Wikipedia - Survival or Extinction?
Hi,not sure if this blog will be accepted but I'll give it a try.
Received an email from Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia.org, asking me if I would renew my £10 donation (around $13.50), which I gladly did.
As you probably already know, Wikipedia is one of the top free sites on the net with in-depth information on any subject you care to mention, and I believe £10 per year is a cheap price to pay if it helps to save it from disappearing.
Wikipedia,an independent, non-profit organization who don't run ads or sell services, but are still required to maintain the server space and programing power of a top site, is maintained purely through donations by its users.
At the moment, of the millions around the world who use Wikipedia, only about 1% donate to help it survive. If the majority of its users donated just £2 (around $2.70), less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks, this great organization would be around for years .
Survival or extinction? It's in the hands of Wikipedia users.

I donate to them each year and it is worth every penny. Like you said if more then 1% of the users actually donated it would make things better for Wikipedia and better for th readers.
When you use I lately you are taken to a contribution page. I contribute modestly!
