First of all go to "Pages" and "add new", call it "Home".
Then got to Appearance - Customize and choose "static home page".
There you'll see a drop-down menu where you can choose the page you just created called "home".

If you look in your admin to the left there should be a link to pages .... You have to create a page or a post and post it on your front .... And if you follow the instructions in the get started classes everything is explained ... Good luck ... Cheers

It depends on your theme. With my theme, I can go to Appearance -> Customize and then there is an option called 'Static Front Page'. Here I can choose to either have my latest posts displayed on my homepage or have a static homepage (which I believe is what you are after).

Check to see if you have something similar with your theme. If so, you would need to create a page or post of the content you want displayed as your homepage and then you can go to Appearance -> Customize, etc, etc and set that page/post as a static front page.

It depends on your theme. Do you want blog roll or static landing page? Static page works as home page. Just you need to mark in Wordpress theme box for static page as home page.
