Quality Versus Quantity - Website Content

The quality content for our website is very important and it is also good to have at least 3 articles written per week for a website to keep our site consistenly with fresh and new information.

So when it boils down to time constraints, do we sacrafice the quantity of 3 down to 2 or 1 per week or do we write smaller number of words per article to have more?

Two thoughts:

  1. Focus on writing 1 or 2 per week with at least 1500 words per article. OR

  2. Write less than 1000 words in each article and deliver at least 3 articles per week. Later come back and enhance them.

From your successes and/or failures, what do you find work best when you started out? I love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Good advice, thanks for sharing them.

I wrote about 28 articles so far, but I stop writing and is focusing on how to make them better.

As you suggested quality contents is very important, I prefer to have few optimize articles than a bunch of articles that nobody can find or will find them uninteresting.

Sometimes starting a website from scratch with new knowledge we've acquired is necessary, it will make the website a lot better. In the long term, it will save us time.

Yes, totally agree. Thank you for stopping by and leave me your comments from your experiences. Quality with value invites people back for more.

Both if possibly we can do it.

=) Thank you for stopping by and leaving me your thoughts. It takes an experience writer to be able to communicate precisely quality information of value without rambling on and on...

My goal is to become that effective communicator and writer.

You are right, when we write we are not thinking to write a quality content, we just want to write what we know is the best for all. If they appreciate it and it answers their need it is a quality post.

Writing is a creative process - at least, in my understanding.
I am trying to get 2 posts, sometimes 3 but all depends. To write, I need a fresh view on the issue or problem I am discussing, and if I am writing constantly, I am loosing on the quality.

I found that the more I write, the better my article quality became, In my niche, I had no idea about it..nothing at all, zero. But have become very knowledgeable thanks to tons of research which translated into better quality articles.

Try understand why your quality is suffering when you write more.
Are you writing when tired or unmotivated? not as fresh as you should be?

I never have written when tired, strained or just not 100% (no need to compromise quality).

Thank you Derek for leaving your thoughts.

Very true, when writing tired or strained the quality of my writing does get compromised. Usually when I start feeling that I step away and come back later to write. However, it does takes time.

It is a challenge for me to write for 3 websites with 3 articles per week, working multiple day jobs, and take care of family and home. I am looking for a good balance where I can deliver quality for the readers and time for myself from crash and burn.

I look forward to when I have less day jobs and focus more on my websites and writing... Although, I know my personality. I may replace it with something else. I'll just play it by ear, one baby step at a time...

Thank you for leaving me your thoughts. I can see your point about writing constantly. Sometimes for me, it is good to stand up, do something else and then come back with a fresh view.

With my multiple jobs, I am constantly up and down so it forces me to go away and come back later to continue to write. It has good and bad advantages. I am still learning how to balance it all out and be as effective as possible. I look forward to it. I think I am slowly making progress.

Reading everyone thoughts, perspectives, and experiences help confirm and form my balance and goal. I hope everyone else is taking away value information for themselves as well.

Thank you for stopping by... =)

Hq + Fr = consistant traffic.

We all know that traffic = money

HQ + Fr = $$$$

(Hq high quality, Fr Frequency)

ideally you should write 3x 1000 (min) per week

Plus 1x month a long 5000+ article in detail about something relating to your niche. An in-depth article,

Also, you;d want to reach out and guest post on other sites in your niche. This will really rock your traffic. Regularly post on other peoples sites (and not just a one off) and have them on your site too and your traffic (as wel as $$$) will really take off.

Basically, you are establishing yourself as brand and getting more recognition (of your brand and site) infront of people who are interested in your niche area. Same happens to those who guest post on your site. win-win.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I like the idea of reaching out to others as guest posts and create win-win situation for everyone.

As I am writing more and more, I find that I can get up from 2000 or 3000 words easier over time and especially with a topic that I am totally passionate about. However, as you mentioned before starting fresh is key.

I have written an article with 4000 words once. I like your idea of contributing 1x month of 5000+ word article of relevant and valuable information. Those two suggestions will be added to my goal list.

Thank you!

If it is your Vn food site (for example) WOW. get visual! Get a YT channel going as that niche area is very much a visual one done by demonstration, embed the video on your site alongside instructions and the actual recipe and yes do reach out to similar cooking sites (not just Vn cuisine ones).

Read you have cook books, great idea Vn cooking lesson available to paying subscribers only (an easy option on wordpress and youtube!) and food sites get wild traffic!

Sometime you gotta think outside the box, you could easily appear on a travel blog/channel as many people travel to Vn enjoy the food and hey reach out and teach them how to make Pho, Com Suan, and so on!

Brand awareness my dear friend. I'm sure travel blogs about Asia, ASEAN and Vn would be delighted to hear from an expert and local lady who can give travel and foodie tips as well as how to's in regards to cooking the local food. Oh and hey..language tips for tourists too!

I love your thoughts and you are so right. I have 2 other websites that I started. Wondering if I just focus primarily on my Vietnamese website for now and do what you suggested.

I really like your ideas. Would you like to be part of it since you are traveling back and forth frequently?

Always about quality and always about what you can manage to do comfortably and push yourself when you need to - it all counts!

Well done haroda!

Nice post!

Hey Ha,
I like your like again. Thank you.

Cheers.
Ken

You are way too silly. Thanks for liking me. Are we going in a loop?

Hello Ha, ideally three posts per week is great. I find I can write two per week at 1500 and more.

Thank you Harvey for leaving me your comments. Excellent to have 2 articles per week with 1500 or more.

I always focus on the quality of the article first, length of the post comes a distant second. You are writing these articles for your readers - pleasing them will please the search engines. Focus on Quality for sure.

Thank you Jeannine! I think quality is good also and keep it consistent.

I was about to ask about how many articles per week, thanks for the insight and you're right quality is king too as content.

Welcome!! Perfect timing. Thank you for stopping by.

You need to have packets of good content like arrows in a quiver!

Thank you for your comments. Quick questions... Do people actually visit us the first few months that articles are submitted? Are we submitting the quantity to please the search engine or the readers?

The readers but the search engines are a great guidance system!
