Feeling stuck and overwhelmed on writing my article.

I feel like I am going through a loop of repetition that I need a break through. I sometimes find myself selecting a topic that is too broad. However, I didn't realize this until I do the research. =( I am a little slow. Three to four hours flew by and I am still at the beginning. I found way too much information that is totally overwhelming. Then I start to feel inadequate and all these articles out there are great, how is mine going to be any better?

Any suggestions on how to break through the barrier and not wasted so much time like I just did?

Yes. What I try to do is research my topic, find a handful of good articles on the subject, and reference those articles. I tell the reader about the progress being made on the subject and generally summarize the articles I find. I provide a clickable link to the articles and tell the reader they can read that article in full by clicking on the clickable link I created.

I never actually quote anything in the articles and definitely don't plagiarize, I only point to them as a reference.

Many times these articles are very helpful and other people may or may not do that kind of research.

As we write like this we can add our own personal story of how we have just found this topic, which is what I have done with essential oils. If we have long experience with a given topic but are now finding a better approach we can include that along with a story of our own.

I think we have to remember that we have our own uniqueness that can be applied along with the information we find. Doing this gives us plenty to write about.

I hope this helps because it's the best way I know how to do things. I am about to start course 5 on content creation, so if I learn to approach writing better I will certainly let you know.

Don't doubt yourself. You have plenty to offer. You can also guide your reader to other solid information, though, I think while providing your own story.

With respect,
Scott Moore

Thank you Scott. That is a great idea. I shall keep it in mind when I write.

You are right about don't doubt myself. It's hard sometimes not to go there. I'll keep working at it.

Thank you again for your thoughtful suggestions.

Just like David's comment, I approach this by breaking the topic into multiple posts. This can be a very good thing since you have enough material to write long posts and have multiple posts all related that can be internally linked to one another.

For example, I am writing about magnesium deficiency. I wrote about causes in one post. I will write about symptoms in one post and about types of supplements in a third post. All three will have internal links to each of the others.

Part of the reason I am doing it this way is because there were good keywords for all three. Let the keywords guide you.

Great strategy. I like that. Thank you. I shall work on incorporating it.

Good! I hope it works well for you!

Break it up into little bite-sized chunks.
Have a structure or outline for writing and follow it. That's it! All the best!
David

Thank you David. Baby bite size shall be my goal.

Try to do list articles like "10 ways to..." or step by step ones like "how to do.... step by step" they give a structure to your articles (like templates)

It's like going from an headline and doing an outline or 5 or more points from that headline.

I don't know if it helps

I like doing lists. That is helpful. Thank you!!

Sometimes you just have to walk away for 10 or 15 minutes and think about something else for a little while. When you come back you may have a different perspective and be able to sort through everything see it with different eyes. That's what I do when it just gets to be too much info.

You are totally right. I had to change my scenery. That really helps. Thank you.

Write first, research after. Writers fall into this same trap all the time. If you research after you can select the relevant information and improve your article. If you research before...this is what happens. You can do multiple posts exploring the same topic in depth/from different angles. 3-4 hours of research can give you enough ideas for 12 articles if you narrow down the topic of your posts.

I never thought it that way. I shall give it a go. Thank you for your contribution. I love it.

No problem. I read a lot of writing help blogs when I want to avoid writing. Haha.

Hi Haroda
I understand you i passed such stressfull some but you know what to do ? let me share you some advices if it helps you out ! who knows , look go & just repeat some lessons of about how writting the blogs and give some times to your self ,let me tell you what helps alot visiting WA friends Profiles, , web sites and readings their blogs and articles, appriciating their works etc...so then first you will give some rest for your self and it will help you to see things in different way, why not learning some helpfull ideas that helps your blog too so,yess do that and you will see.

I agree. I am doing that and it helps. It re-inspire me. Thank you!!!

Hi Haroda~
I totally understand. I am somewhat going thru the same dilemma. Just spent 1 day working out my thoughts for an article. Didn't type anything until I had it outlined by hand on a note pad......I'm old school, it's easier for me that way. Now I'm typing it on my word pad to see what it's going to look like.......will transfer it later to SiteContent. The broad/narrow problem can be solved with the keywords......long tail, good traffic, low competition. I think it will get easier.......just need to keep going and work through it.

Wayne

Thank you! I will keep moving forward. I hope it will get easier. I find myself in this predicament occasionally. This is the first time I am reaching out to WA for words of encouragements. I am glad I did. Thank you!

Today I was in the same loop. Was right now thinking the same as you are writing. What I did wrong ? I was not consequent on following an idea completely, but jumping from one idea to the next to the next keyword, to the next research ... . When this happens, I am very quickly disappearing under the flow of informations and then I begin to comment some other websites and in a way stop working on mine.
I have to focuss on baby step, stop thinking that it is too slow with regards to the amount of work and the little time to do it.
This is not a response to your question, but I hope encouraging for you to know you are not the only one....

thank you!!! baby steps is good. I making myself a cup of tea now and sit back a little. Thank you for your kinds words. I really appreciate it.

It's great to have that much content. So break it down into smaller bites. Perhaps do some keyword research for longer tail keywords that would fit some of those additional articles. You did not waste time. Instead you found even more opportunities in your niche. You just have to figure out how to put them to use.

Thank you! I am glad to hear that I am not wasting time. I want to write 3 articles per week for my new website but at this pace, I felt bogged down...

I think what I need to do is be ok if I do not get 3 articles per week. I put a little stress on myself and then get myself into a frizzy...

This isn't a race, it's a marathon. If you don't do 3 in a week, but you do make progress, then you did well. The important thing is you keep working. As long as you are good with that, you are doing just fine.

You are right. It's a long haul and I do not want to burn myself out. Thank you for your encouraging words. I appreciate it very much.

Did I understand it right ? I thought if we don't fulfill the expectations we have to leave the challenge ?

I am not sure... that is an excellent question. I don't want to give up, at least not yet.

I'm not in the challenge, so I can't speak to that. But I can tell you that this is a long-term commitment, longer than just the challenge, so don't make yourself crazy.

Wise Words, Jeannine, exactly the right ones for overchallenged me. Thank you.

yes, very true. I do get impatient and leap or run before I can walk. I appreciate your wisdom.
