What to write about?

I noticed a blog post just today musing on what to write about and How do you know what gets read.

Having just completed 200 posts to my website and increasing my word count over time I sat back and had a small Think Time Activity.

One thing I do is go to my Google analytic and see what people read. There is always a topic that stands out and draws a lot of readers.

I then go to Jaaxy and find a synonym and start writing further information plus I can link back to my prior post to complete the circle.

Other times I look at News, google or even things around me that interest me and then build a topic that suits my niche on Small business and Internet marketing.

I have also started using People or things that are in the news so I draw from there name.
I recently annalysed Donald Trump and Kim Jong UN and what that applied to marketing

That in it self-made me draw out my creative thoughts and put them to paper. I did the same with the recent Gillette Advert that caused controversy all over the world. The Ad not my post.

I don't take sides in this because there is no right side but there really is a lot to learn about marketing and media that reflects down to our daily activity.

I looked at the Kardashians as well even though I know nothing about them because they are a Brand, a very good brand indeed. In terms of marketing only, just saying LOL

So things to write about come as you dwell on your world, look around and absorb everything that comes your way.

One thing to consider however is that you are writing for someone else not for you. That is easy to forget sometimes. When I wrote about The Vietnam summit for example It was an interest to me and my research was about me and my writing probably reflected my attitude because most people and certainly my readers could not give a Toss about this.

By the end of the article I hope my intentions shifted to why you should be interested and how this can apply to your world. Writing for you, my trusted readers to provide an inside you would not have considered interesting.

What is your niche and what do your readers want. Put yourself on the other side of the page and ask the who, how, what and why questions and when you don't find an answer start writing, researching and creating.

Checking with your keywords is something I am a little guilty of not doing, I suppose the more you check with Jaaxy etc the more it becomes second nature, obviously neglected by me, thank you for the reminder must try harder.

Use Google Trends and you will see what is hot for your keywords and find a lot more topics.

Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed reading your post, the world is exploding with things to write about, all we need do is stop, look and listen. Have a great weekend my friend.
