What I learned about branding at Wealthy Affiliate

It is interesting when we tackle the subject of branding and our minds go many places.

Products, companies, places even people carry a brand. The better recognised that brand is the more business they attract.

Yes a brand can be corrupted but we are not going there today.

Your personal Brand

As a blogger or small business owner, online or on-street it matters not your brand makes a massive difference.

Let me explain;

As one of a million or so Wealthy Affiliate members we all seek a position of recognician.

In fact this is actively encouraged by WA with blog writing, both gathering a following and becoming one in a group.

I get pretty annoyed when I drop out of the top 150 members and many others when they fall foul of the Ambassador range feel the same.

Those that achieve a high rank have had to put effort into achieving a goal, you certainly don't get it for free and that is my first bit of advice.

You must work at branding.

Advertising your brand

I am keeping this in-house to explain the benefits of branding within WA.

Every year a dozen or so high performers go to Vegas on a free junket, well earned but free.

Most of those that go write a summary of the event and I read every single one of them with envy, in fact probably more like raw jealousy.

I follow most of these high achievers, Nathaniel, Chris, Grace, Tim, Ruipe etc because they have put them selves out there and created a brand.

They are not shy on promotion and training so when your name means something take it to another level. They market them selves in many ways

When your name means something

If ever an email arrives from Kyle or Carson that goes to the top of my read list, their brand means a lot to me and they have earned my respect.

Like wize the Queen of WordPress Marion B.

However you can be just different like The Locksmith and the Blogdogs. We all like true life stories to fill in a day.

Can you over promote

My answer is yes and no. I get annoyed at some who post once or twice a day, every day and I don't read them anymore. We have all been to a site review and a certain blogger is always there, The Tony we all know, maybe sometimes annoying but certainly remains in the top of recall brain.

Some have been blacklistted for over selling and that is different to self promotion.

Where are you in the list?

Like me, you just need to work harder and put your selves out there more, it will pay in the end.

I was about to write a blog on branding so sat and thought about self promotion at WA.

I then realised how the high achievers have more real followers than us mere mortals. We need to work a lot harder on this.

It is interesting that most of the ones mentioned are in the higher income bracket and why.

It is all about self branding.

Great observation, Peter! Branding sets you apart from the fold. A distinctive writing style could set one apart

Good to know about it. Thanks for sharing.
