The Greatest engineering accomplishment of all time
This headline really had me thinking as to what has benefited mankind the most since technology first provided the opportunity for massive benefit.
Building Pyramids without technology must have been a contender However we go to the 20th century for an answer
The First Ford car really bought about change to the world in 1903.
Now some 118 years later and a lot of changes we are about to go electric.
Later came the internet that allowed access to those that could be in a coverage area
This led to Google maps, where would we be without our Navigation tools?
Google delivered a massive shift in communication that is now so common place it is accepted
Then we had Trips to the Moon in a manned spacecraft a massive achievement for man kind.
The Mobile phone moving to smart technology delivered real change to all our lives.
There are so many others that you will contribute as you ponder the question.
In 2000 the National Academy of Engineers voted unanimously that the greatest single engineering event of the 20th century was THE ELECTRICITY GRID.
Without this role out in lines and poles and electrical stations we would have no cities, lighting or power for industry. How different life would be with this simple issue that supports our world as we know it.
Like the Car however, things are about to change. The fossil fuel delivered energy is being dealt a death blow as being contaminated and creating problems for our world.
Nuclear has been tainted by the Fossil lobby and Green Hydrogen is still a long way off.
Solar and wind can only achieve so much and Hydro is scarce in most areas.
What ever the solution is our ancient network of power lines and switches still delivers energy to the consumer. Something needs to change.

The human race has always been a slave to technology. Grinning at the idea of how things will be in the future, we do not see that there is a problem with this addictive addiction. We are slaves to our devices and have no time for anything else. Our creativity seems to have gone out of the window, as everything is just left in limbo or stuck on autopilot. Thanks John, my latest addition, being trialled by China, is a satellite based electricity conductor that will microwave beams into houses, businesses etc for electrical supply.
No poles, no wires, no pollutants.

Solar and wind power can provide a great deal just have to start to install more of them. I see no reason to wait. Every land owner could get it done for self. It's very much doable. As for cars, well Tesla and Nio are on the right path already.
