Remarketing or retargeting are they different?

First of all let me explain about those pesky ads that follow you around Facebook and Instagram. You look at a new Stove top cooker and all of a sudden ads popup everywhere with great bargains. How do they know you are interested?

It's called pixels, little bits of code on a site that you can use to track their actions. They are not dangerous in the data they carry but they certainly are flirtatious.

Many believe that targeting and marketing are one and the same but in this case they hold a different part of the puzzle.

Remarketing is to a known client base that has been to your site for some reason. They may have bought or just filled out a form or contact method.

As Affiliate marketers or bloggers these are valuable resources. They are the lookers and voyeurs that follow but never lift a credit card.
In fact Wealthy Affiliate does this very well with every one that signs a free trial.

Kyle immediately Sends an email welcoming them to the group and what they can expect. We are also encouraged to be in contact and do a bit of hand holding along the way.

Many select a free trial but never move past the initial action so we maintain contact over time. We continue to Remarket the product even though it is sold to the free point.

Retargeting is contacting those that have not taken action. They may have visited your website or had a casual contact but taken no action. We understand they have an interest in the product but are just window gazing at this time.

As they wander down the Mall going from shop to shop who will be the lucky seller?

Then as they gaze at Facebook or other media an attractive ad pops up about what they are searching for, A new Cooker at a discount they can't refuse, They then clamber past several outlets to arrive at your door.
You know what they want and you are marketing to them after an initial inquiry.

Both marketing and targeting use similar platforms for contact like social media, email or SMS however your targets are in different parts of the buying cycle.
One is your old friend the other a new acquaintance you hope to make.

Remarketing is really important to any business either on line or fixed location because you have completed the know, like and trust cycle.,

They bought the stove top cooker but what about the new Ladle set from Jamie Oliver. A must have for any emerging chef.

Maybe they downloaded your 5 steps to stove top cooking E book and are ready to make a decision.

Your customer or contact base are your best friends, use them well to get repeat lifetime loyalty and build those sales.
