Rarely unhappy with WA but times change

I have promoted Wealthy Affiliate for many months or years and one of my persistent advantages is the lack of upsells with WA.

So many online companies bombard you with great opportunities that cost just a little more.

Like Mobe as an example that went from $49 to $20,000, but no worry we will finance it.

Our own Jerry Huang just added some training and like many of us we follow what Jerry says.

He is a high achiever and great communicator for a young guy that dropped out of Uni to persue a career on the net.

I went to have a quick look and I am blocked.

Why?

Because only those with an annual subscription have access. WHAT THE!

Ok I can but if I choose not to I am disadvantaged. A lot of the payers will be caught in this.

Not happy Jan but I guess I just have to live with it.

Ok....this is a shame. I just received the email myself. I have been here less than two months, quickly understood the wisdom of going Premium, and now can't access special training that was sent to me? All because I didn't pay a year in advance??
Look, I'm reasonably certain I'm not alone in not having the cash to pay annually! Yes, I can add...it is much cheaper to pay a year up front.

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH I CAN SAVE, IF I DON'T THE RESOURCES!

It really isn't anyone's business, but..it took all I have to scrape up enough to go premium. I believe in the WA community, I would love to take advantage of the savings!

I am sure people get discouraged early, and drop out...maybe their dream isn't large enough. Or a million other reasons.

But, I am not them! I have the tenacity to continue even though I can only work this a few hours a week. I will continue even though I do it from a smartphone whose keys I can barely type! I will continue to build this even as I fall asleep with the phone in my hand. I will continue on even as I add more stress to myself every month figuring how to make next month's payment.

Just please don't send me another email promising BONUS TRAINING, and then block me from it because I didn't have the money for a year in advance.

And don't insinuate that my belief isn't strong enough! I have heard that many times over the years from much lesser companies!

I BELIEVE IN WA, and care for most I've met here.

I SINCERELY HOPE THIS WAS AN OVERSIGHT...

Regards
Billy

Hi, Billy
First of all, I was wrong because I thought it was WA fault.

It is one member Jerry who has a large Taiwanese following and it was intended for them.
He used the available rules to achieve a small objective.

I now understand even if I went off a bit.

The rules are rules and it was played as such.

It was not WA it was a member who is a very good one so
it is not all bad. Maybe a mistake but it sure got some attention.

Thanks, and as you can see...I got fired up! I'm pretty calm usually.
Thanks, oh...I included you in my network..
Regards
Billy

I'd like to weigh in on this issue. I suggest communicating with Jerry to find out why he has adopted that policy.

At WA we have such a lot going for us. That is why when something crops up that makes us unhappy it stands out like a sore thumb. If we had a lot of issues simmering then Jerry's policy would be lost in the crowd.

I did upgrade to the annual membership when I got an unexpected windfall from my YouTube Channel a while back. Otherwise I probably would still have been on the monthly subscription. The peace of mind I get not having to worry about missing a monthly payment is worth it.

My expectation is in a years time I will be earning enough to afford that annual payment when it comes due.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view. There is no right or wrong position. So all is good.

Sorry Peter for using your post for my soap box!

Cheers.

Edwin

Perhaps you should contact Jerry, Peter.

I'm sure he set the training to be available to Premium members only, but didn't know there are options to choose between monthly and yearly.

My best guess for him choosing yearly is because a lot of newbies are on monthly subscription and maybe he wants to protect his intellectual property from the newbies who'll likely leave WA soon enough and just use his info for their personal gain (like copy and pasting for their websites or something).

Either way, I'd probably contact Jerry before getting upset. Also, if I'm not mistaken one of his tutorials is uploaded on Udemy and WA members get free access. But again, reach out to Jerry and confirm it with him Peter :)

EDIT:

I just saw that Jerry has a new training and probably that's the one you were referring to.

Considering the training says "Bonus" I assume he purposely did it for his referrals who buy annual membership. Other WA members who have annual membership just happen to get benefit from his bonus videos too.

Frankly, you shouldn't take it personally. It's just Jerry's incentive to his referrals to buy annual membership and he rewards them with his bonus videos.

Thanks, Zarina,

You may well be correct but it sets up a precedent.

I understand the situation and realise it's not the pointy edge of the wedge which was my first impression.

I jumped the gun a bit.

However, he has certainly done well with his target group.

Peter H

Still... a monthly premium member actually pays more than a yearly. Doesn't that show dedication?

Actually, in my view, annual members show more dedication because if they decided to pay annually, means they decided to go all in. They are committed for 12 whole months, without backing out.

Math wise:

12 months at a discounted price is still more, than 3 months at a regular price if the person were to leave in 3 months, for example. (In my experience, most monthly users leave in 3-5 months).

And besides, if Jerry's target group was HIS referrals who buy annual membership and his incentive was this mindset video, then it's only logical he only limits it to annual membership WA'ers.

It's not something that should be taken personally, IMHO :)

Yes, it IS taken personally. And PERSONALLY, I am going to take my time. :) It may cost me more, but that is my choice. :) But that shouldn't be held against me.

Hi I am 100% dedicated to WA and have not gone annually due to the way my finances work, so I am monthly and will not back out.

I meant monthly members shouldn’t take it personally that Jerry allowed access to his own referrals who sign up annually **

it’s nifjt time here, perhaps wasn’t clear with my thoughts :)

Makes sense, that’s how I did myself the first couple of months too.

The question here though isn’t about how dedicated monthly or annual users are but that it was Jerry’s decision to allow access to annual members (and I’m sure he focused on HIS referrals first).

He makes his own decisions how he conducts his business within WA and I don’t think monthly members should get THAT upset about it.

As for not backing out, good choice Denise! This community truly is awesome and I hope you’re enjoying your experience here despite some hot topic/controversial WA posts haha :)

Hmmm, this is disappointing to hear. Especially as those of us who pay monthly or 6 monthly actually, pay more to be here.
I hope this blog & all the comments are seen by Kyle, Carson and Jerry and they reconsider this decision.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings

See Sharlee at Team Icecream below explains it all

Hi Peter
Thank you. I had read Sharlee's response before commenting, I still hope that Kyle, Carson and Jerry all see this blog and our comments. I may also pm Jerry because we do all promote WA as a no upsells opportunity and this seems to go against what we are promoting.
Blessings
Louise

Thanks, Louise, my thoughts exactly.

Peter H

Seems like you may have opened a can of worms we did not realize existed, thanks for sharing, and I am sorry you, like me as I am not yearly, are unable to view this training.

After reading your post and the mention of Mobe I thought I would comment in case you were not aware that the FTC have closed them down. Mobe is a Scam and thousands have lost a lot of money including myself. My only hope is that Matt Lloyd/McPhee gets everything thats he is deserved.

thanks, Deanez

Yes, I followed Mobi and only got caught with $49. The idea was good the greed was great. Like any Pyramid, there is not much room at the top.
Peter h

Hi Peter

Yes that is a disappointment, isn't it?

When one creates a training, you can decide who you want to allow to see your training, so this was Jerry's decision, not directly Kyle and Carson's (although they made the option available, I agree).

I would suggest you send a PM to Jerry and ask him to reconsider his decision. Maybe he had a reason, OR maybe he was just tired and didn't give it enough thought. He can change it afterwards if he so decide.

Wishing you an awesome day, Peter!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Sharlee,
I am relatively new to WA.
Just curious, does one make any commission creating training within WA community?

Thanks, Sharlee,

That explains why I guess. I logged in out of interest but got a shock at that.

However, does it open a few doors like paid courses?

Kind Regards

Peter H
Vanilla only

Hi Gavin

Yes, one does - but it is very little, since it is not easy to reach the higher payout incentives. So although one would be paid a total of $75 IF ALL of the goals could be reached, many don't get past the Level 1 or 2 payout threshold (less often through Level 3). So in my view, it is negligible - basically a labor of love and a service to the community.

In this post, Loes has explained it - she meant to say "rant". ;-) Wishing you all of the very best, Gavin!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Peter

To be honest, I have NO idea, since I've been Premium Yearly Subscriber from the very first day, (I didn't even sign up for a free account), so I can't help with that, I'm sorry!

However, IF there is anything that is NOT available for Premium Monthly Subscribers, you will probably get a notice similar to the one you have received now with Jerry's training. So if you haven't seen anything to that effect yet, I would guess that you are not missing out on anything (except for the cheaper price, of course). ;-)

But if you feel uncomfortable, feel free to PM Kyle or Carson - no harm in asking, right? ;-) Also explain to them about this training of Jerry (add the link for them to this post and Jerry's training, should they want to check it out) and that you got the surprise and why you are asking, just so that they have the full picture and understand where you are coming from and why you are asking. (They are so busy, the easier you can make it for them to quickly check things, the better.) ;-)

LOL - Hubby (Vanilla) says he wishes you all of the very best and lots of vanilla ice cream too! ;-)

Stay awesome Peter!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I've never heard of this before. But because I've been yearly since November 2015, I wouldn't have noticed. I do know that trainings can be set to "anyone can access" and "Only premium members can access" but this is new to me.

Hmmm.... I see your frustration, and it's always hard to take, when Businesses see-fit to hard-ball a particular sector. -- But they doubtless have their reasons, and it's not always easy to see this from the 'other'-direction. But WA seems a really good Group overall! :) .....
Cheers, from New Zealand! - & Keep right-on Striving for better!

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Thanks for pointing out.
That, indeed, was a "WTF" moment...

So, my question now, which trainings are only available to yearly subscribers?

The obvious answer is ALL Wealthy Affiliate generated training is available for Premium members who pay monthly or yearly. They are BOTH classed as PREMIUM members.

Members who create their own trainings within the Wealthy Affiliate Platform can chose what payment level can have access to it. This ranges from Free members, Monthly paid members and Annual paid members.

Wealthy Affiliate does not influence the decision of the member providing the training.

I believe that it is rare for a training to be restricted to only members who pay annually.

I hope this answers your question.

Cheers.

Edwin

Thanks, Edwin.
Yes, it was my bad thinking it was WA. Having been a member for a few years it was the first time seen.
It is within the rules so we move on.
