Pwned and there is more
I recently wrote on being Pwned and have decided to follow up because it can be a problem
without being a problem. Let me explain>
Malware Bytes can be used for free to scan for Malware or a paid service to keep clear of Malware.
I have used them on my computer and my wifes to clear a problem over a past couple of years.
I am on the mailing list so they send out aware type articles. The latest one on being Pwned.
If you did not see my prior article it is here but Pwned pronounced Poned or owned is where your email address and Password has been compromised. DATA STOLEN and ready to be used by someone for malicious reasons. A lot of the data is old and is being traded around the web and may not do any harm. UNLESS!
I had actually had a couple of extorsion threats from the Dark web stating my password was known and I was to be shut down. I did not take this too seriously and let it pass ignoring the emails and warnings.
On learning about Pwned I did a search on Have I been pwned to find I was compromised taking me to todays newsletter from Malware Bytes that stated, among other things:
"However, as we saw in summer 2018, stale data can be used successfully in phishing and extortion campaigns. The mere mention of a correct password, even if it’s outdated, could coax unsuspecting users into giving up fresh PII or paying ransoms."
It has happened to me. It is a real threat and you should check your emails and Immediately start updating passwords.
I had a Lawyer customer call me and ask if this was legit or some sort of hoax.
Malware Bytes is probably the most known malware protection on the web, they should know
and they say be aware so do the check or at least update some passwords.

Thanks for the info. I was just researching this topic this morning. My work e-mail was the one most affected. Ugh!!!
