Key word V Header and the results
We all understand the value of Keywords and a Google search to find traffic and competition.
However, I also use the Monster Insights header tool that rates your headline up to 100%
When I get my Keyword I then play around until I have a header that rates highly and goes with that.
However, recently I have been concentrating more on Keywords and forgetting the great headlines. In fact, I am rating down at 30-40% for my headline.
I have been disappointed in my results and having Prince Partha beating me around the head about keywords I made some changes.
The result is number 1 on Bing and Yahoo within a few days but still waiting on Google to recognize my effort.
My initial thoughts are that Keywords are everything. And a crap headline does not make a lot of difference.
It is recognized that your Keyword needs to be in your headline and your Meta description so it is a balancing act.
The first one is nearly a month old and has no ranking at this stage even though the Jaaxy figures were the traffic of 136 and position 18. This meets all the criteria for a Keyword
The second one with the low headline rating is three days old and registered on page 18 on Bing. Traffic 3838 and position four. This was a great find of a Keyword.
Therefore my conclusion is that Keywords are everything and headlines are not so important.

You have really taken a lot of detailed steps to writing your articles.
That's great!
The most important thing to note is that all those things that dictate to us are not human
Just a train of thought :)
Nice, I pay attention to what the AI stuff says, but basically don’t let it change how I write.
I do long tail keywords and mix it up, but for me it’s the content that counts.
I’ve tried to second guess Google and Bing etc but they change their algorithms so often , I give up.lol.
I just keep writing.

HaHa, I hear you, Stephen, however, I am trying to find a better balance but keeping on with the writing.
Kind regards

Hi Peter
You can score 100% on an SEO tool and still not rank because the competition is too tough. It doesn't mean you shouldn't aim for a high score.
Also, don't worry about the headline unless you want someone to click on it! If you are on page one and your headline isn't as compelling as the others, no one will click on it anyway so you may as well have been on page 2 (or 20). The more clicks you get, the higher it gets bumped up the order so taking time to work on a brilliant headline is absolutely worth it.
You can play around with headlines and see what you can come up with that is sexier than what is already on page one e.g. 'What is an autoresponder and how can it skyrocket your sales?' (Your URL would only have to include 'what-is-an-autoresponder'.)
It would be a shame to waste a great keyword by not finding a great headline. There are some free headline generators to give you ideas. Jerry Huang wrote a really good post on the subject - I can't find it right now but if you dropped him a note I am sure he would point you in the right direction.
Well done with getting on page one of Yahoo and Bing ! Great job (and definitely listen to Prince Partha - he knows about this game!)
Best,
Jean
Thanks, Jean.
I am trying for the balance but it is certainly challenging at times.
Google acts in mysterious ways.
