I took the WordPress 5 upgrade
Now I am not the smartest WordPress kid in the room nor an expert in any way but I do like to explore new things because they must be better, right?
I had tried Gutenberg on one of my sites and that went into the too hard basket but this adventure was going to be different.
Marion Black said it was good, so it must be so because Marion knows all.
I was off to a shakey start on a new post that I thought I would delete if it all failed.
My first objective was to use every option in the Block builder, at least once, so I could see the result.
OK, I mastered the heading and paragraphs pretty easy with the bonus that I was not forever inserting spaces as my heading included the paragraph. This probably saved me some time as it was a constant issue.
Moving on I tried an image and put the alt description in and then decided to do a gallery.
Over 150 posts and I had never before included a Gallery but I was on Fire, this is so easy.
Now to try some HTML so I grabbed a WA banner and popped that in. Opps it shows as HTML. Aha there you are a click later and I can see the banner.
Another heading, try a H3 this time and another paragraph, going at a 100 MPH here.
What about a quote, that was easy and now a list, Mate killing it.
Better check my word count next, Huston we have a problem! No word count at bottom left.
No worries press on regardless.
Now I am traveling better than ever so I move to the side bar to extend my adventure.
Again I admit to doing things not done before.
Write a page excerpt, OK done. Change Categories and now enter tags. Tags threw me because somewhere in the training I read that tags did not matter but here they were standing up and asking to be filled in, Done.
The feature image I uploaded was not quite the needed 200 pixels deep and normal WordPress would have denied me, but now it worked.
I clicked the Yoast button to check on my writing and as usual my passive voice needed correcting
I use rapid SEO indexer so I pinged my site map and loaded to Google.
All done, well nearly anyway.
I started the search for the word count button that was lost. Enter the ever great Marion Black
There is a little( i ) at the top left and this contains all you need to know about your words and headings etc. Blessed be you Little i and 800 words
Conclusion.
Hahah, I just entered a H3 for conclusion tag and it highlighted the whole bleeding para. WP5 is good
I believe it is quicker to write a blog, it leads you on the correct path and provides a better result. I don't think I could go back even after just one try.

On a sideways note, how beneficial do you find Rapid SEO Indexer? I can see how it might help a new site get indexed but once G has your site in its radar, surely it will index your posts fairly rapdily (although not necessarily instantly)?
I watched the video and they said it just automates 'well-known' procedures. Do you - or anyone - know what they are?

I too have just plunged into WP 5.0, and although nervous about having to add yet another learning curve so soon in my journey, like you I soon got to grips with it.
Yes, although I still find it a little quirky, I do think that it is a doddle and I will enjoy using it.

We’ll done and thanks for sharing, ivecnit upgraded yet but like you I will try it out on one of my new sites to experiment and get accustomed to it.
Peter, though I don't use the WP5 editor personally, from what you have put, if you can master the WP5 editor, then it will evolve you to try other editors with other themes
That means you get new and exciting skills which potentially can earn you a lot of money, so well done for cracking the code with it
WP is impossible to break, does most things asked of it and when using some other tools, which go with it, you will become a master at it

I just spent all afternoon trying to get one post sorted out. I don't have any hair left, but I got there.
The whole text got added as one block and I managed to get one photo in, then lost the add media button at the top. Just disappeared.I gave up and added a couple of photos at the bottom for social media sharing.
Not sure if the problem was that I created it in Site Content. Adding small photos was a problem.
Anyway, I'm sure I will figure it out. Next post I will try by doing it direct and see if that makes a difference
ok .. you've given me a little confidence to try Wordpress 5.0.
I'd said I would do it last night but I chickened out at the last minute.
But after reading how you zipped through it at 100MPH ... I have to get me a spine and just do it.

Great work Peter and yes Marion is one of many great Ambassadors to follow.
I trust Marion totally with all the training and blogs she does, Marion is a seasoned, skilled and talented entrepreneur and does more outside WA than others may realize.
