A moving experience

I have been told that moving home is an experience only equal to a death in the family or a divorce.

I don't quite agree with that having experienced them all but still it is a monumental task.

We sold our large home nearly 10 years ago after the kids had all gone and we rattled around a lot of open space.
The swimming pool and garden had become a chore, more than a pleasure, so we decided to take the first step in down sizing.

We went to a two story Villa that was a comfortable size and agreed that it would be a ten-year plan.

The ten years came around very quickly so we had to make a decision on what we wanted for the next ten.

We are both in our seventies and my wife has had both knee and back operations over recent months so the stairs have become an issue.

The debate raged on a unit in a multi-story group, an old person's development or a single level villa.
A recent experience with my in laws who are a bit older than us but left the downsizing too late.
Both unwell and a move was particularly difficult for them prompted us to consider an early activity.

My demands were very simple, an office from which to run my Wealthy Affiliate business, close to the ocean and not too much garden, but enough to keep her happy.
June wanted something not to old and close to family members so we had a plan.

We found a nice small single level villa with three bedrooms and a great outside area, 2 Klm from the coast and in a nice area.

We then tried to fit a large two story town houses into a small villa - a bit like putting a size 12 foot into a size 8 shoe, it is hard work.
The local charity groups benefited from a lot of giveaways and we had a driveway sale to quit excess pieces and furniture.

It has taken a few days and we, plus the cat have settled in and getting accustomed to the new surroundings.

I have just searched every cupboard and box looking for coffer pods, I knew they were there but I could not find them, half an hour later they turned up in a box of drinks that had yet to be unpacked.

Internet was a problem for a few days and that was like losing my right arm. We just can't live being offline

Are we happy?
Yes we are on the way, still finding our way around but it all looks rosy.

I am back posting to Wealthy affiliate and have a dozen blogs to catch up on so will be kept busy for the next couple of weeks.

I believe in forward planning and this is a lifetime step.
