The World is Going to Hell in a Hand Basket

Well I guess that got your attention, I don't really think that at all by the way, but it was Twack's Blog this morning that inspired me to write this tonight. More of that in a moment.

Drawn To Negative

Our natural modern human tendency seems to draw us inexorably to the lure of bad news.

Why is this?

Why do we not lean more towards encouraging, uplifting and visionary centred news that talks about possibilities, and potential, and human endeavour, and conquering fear, and overcoming the odds and building success, and helping others and leading the way and above all daring to be different.

Back to Twack

So anyway here is the direct quote from Twack's post this morning that led me to think about this:

"Over the last week or so, there have been a handful of posts that have had an inspirational type theme. 'You can do this', 'Never stop', 'Don't give up', 'Keep going until you reach the top'. That kind of thing.

We need that, even more so now, with things the way they are. Our resilience is being tested more and more, as each day goes by."

Why Do You Spend time on These Pages

He is right!
But what a struck me was why so many of us are drawn to spend so much of our time on these pages everyday.

The answer is obvious really, when you do a quick analysis of what you see here.

Yes, first and foremost, there is a lot of good and useful business discussion and mutual learning.

But a cursory examination will show that while Twack's observation about there being more strive and succeed material of late is true, actually there is a steady stream of that kind of stuff in these pages normally. It's like a healthy kind of background radiation LoL

The obligatory learning material, is liberally sprinkled with shared stories of success, and mutual encouragement, and celebrations of achievement, and people moving forward.

All of which proves the power of positivity on all of us, and all good reasons to spend time on these pages (alongside building our businesses and pursuing our goals and objectives).

This is why most of us along, with the help of the many other positive influences in our lives, will...........

NOT be going to hell in a hand basket!

Let's Keep Up The Good Work

I would take this opportunity to encourage us all, not only to drink at this fountain of positivity, but also to contribute to filling it where we are able..........

So much as I would always advocate doing at least one thing each day to move our business forward, I would also advocate finding no more than 5 minutes each day, to leave some of our positivity here, for others to recharge from.

This could be a one paragraph WA Blog, it could be a couple of comments on someone else's post, or leaving comments in the shared comment thread, or helping someone in a live chat session, or in a classroom question.

It matters not what it is really, but all the little actions make for a big difference to the positivity of our community at large.

Thanks for reading, friends and colleagues and with that I wish you a peaceful and positive evening, from New Zealand.

I really have not gotten the passion for blogging, to me it is just another form of communication, so call it blogging, or emailing, or just plain letter writing, which only a few of us can say they have really done since the computer age arrived.
My mother was a great letter writer, always filled me in on the family and what was going on with them, some times a pic would be added to letter she did this while I was away in the service, she did this for all her family and friends. She was a great collector of those letters, when we were kids we always wondered what all those shoe boxes were in the closet , in the attic and under her bed, as she had only a a pair or two of shoes of her own, so what was the need of all those shoe boxes?
"Memory Reminders" she would tell us make sure you keep them close.

Hi Thomas,
I’m with you on writing. For me, putting all my thinking into paper is the hardest because when I try to research on sources and ideas to use, I end up taking every information related or sometimes not without stopping to the point I have generated thousands of words. It always drive me crazy, but surprises my wife and friends who struggle to even write hundreds of words. One day, I realized that the best way is to just start by writing an outline, then fill it up with any ideas that come to mind about the topic, and finally look for sources to support my ideas. Sometimes, I still find myself back especially when I’m trying to make the work perfect n the initial stage. So I try reminding myself to follow a limit set by me initially which is why I love the WA’s siteContent minimum 1000 words.
Is a great post.
All the best.

Mmmm I wonder why anyone would be here who does not enjoy writing to some degree but appreciate your view 🧐

Framework first has always worked for me whatever type of writing I am doing🧐

Hi Hamish,
Absolutely, using framework help. You will be surprise if you know the statistic of people who don’t like writing. Just as there are some that hate math or chemistry or even physics. These people struggled with it during undergraduate school, some even pay people to do it for them.
Thanks for sharing your thought.

Thanks Benson,
Never surprised about people not liking or not being good at writing just surprised that people would gravitate towards an opportunity that relies upon it as skill unless they consciously intend to develop that skill.

Like any other business there are key skills to be mastered I suggest that for AM writing is one of those skills.

As I have said in many posts before this does not require anyone to be Ernest Hemingway just that they acknowledge the importance of it because content is writing.

Not everyone has the opportunity to pay a writer and I would think the majority of people who come to WA are not, and therefore that is why from time to time I share my knowledge of writing in its many forms to help those who don’t have the same confidence.🧐

I find that a lot of people are drawn to bad news because it makes them feel better. Not that others have suffered but that they have not. It's also easier to have a concrete base of which to base your opinion of you doing better rather than have the faith that your world is good and all is proceeding well.

Human nature. Go figure.

BB

I think you are right Byron that old mystery human nature🧐

Couldn't agree more Hamish, let us all lift each other. Members should feel welcome to share their trials, many of us who have been around a while will have surely felt the same or experienced something similar.

It is our duty to lend a hand to those coming behind us.

Great post buddy.

Appreciate the vote of confidence Heidi very many thanks indeed 🧐

Hi Jim,

Indeed, we are all in this together and we have to help each other in any way we can so that we all come out of this better versions of ourselves. Thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts with us!

Have a great day! Be safe! Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Nichola hi it is always great to hear from and you are always positive stay safe and well🧐

Thank you! It's the only way forward! I will!

👍🏼🧐

Great article, Hamish! Well said and your words resound my feelings. I was just telling my husband the thing I love most here is how positive everyone is working toward goals together. In my retail job, which I will probably be called back soon, there are 15 crammed into one little office, waiting to go greet a customer. That's retail. If you are busy everyone's happy and making money. But if you're not, everyone sits around complaining about everything. Now that I've finished my first week and level 1 of training, I need to sit down and make some serious goals about how I want to transition here.

Have a lovely day,
Kerry

Good thinking Kerry, have an exit plan from that little crucible that you sit in LoL🧐
