Eats Shoots and Leaves Blog the 2nd
Kia Ora Friends and Colleagues
It seems I hit a note with this subject last night and I have been asked for more, so here is a second example of where, punctuation can completely change the fundamental meaning of words.
Enjoy.....
Dear Jack
Look at the difference between these two passages, same words different punctuation
The First:
Dear Jane,
I want a woman who gets what love is all about.
You are warm, generous, thoughtful.
Souls not like you admit to be useless and fickle.
You have wasted me for other women.
I yearn for you.
I have no feelings when we're apart.
I can be always contented - will you let me be yours?
Peter
The Second:
Dear Jane,
I want a woman who gets what love is.
All about you are warm, generous, thoughtful souls , who are not like you.
Admit to being useless and fickle.
You have wasted me.
For other women I yearn!
For you I have no feelings.
When we're apart I can be always happy.
Will you let me be?
Yours,
Peter

Hi Hamish. You are only the second person who I have met who knows what "eats, shoots then leaves", is about. People critisise me for showing that punctuation is really important, good post.

Without punctuation we lose the ability to regulate and clarify the meanings of differing text, only it is quite normal to see text without any punctuation at all we all do it in the modern world as it is a lot easier(dumbing down I term it) no matter the monotony...? :
Ain’t it the case guvna’🧐
