I used to have the ability to easily add rows and columns. I can't find the insert table button in the menu. What's the best way?

Just for informational use for new/non-computer literate peeps. I use the plugin Lightweight Grid Columns by Tom Usborne. Really easy to use for newbies who don't know a lot about computer lingo. after install, on your post/page menu at the top, there will be a small icon at the very end to add columns. Add what amount of space to use and that's it. Amazing...it took me 3 days to find the right one.

I have the Tiny MCE advanced plugin on my test website, I create tables there, and copy the HTML code from the text tab to my website.

The advantage of working on a test website is:

It saves you a plugin;)
You can play around whatever you like
You don't mess up your website

Success

Thanks. Loes. That's an excellent workaround!

That makes perfect sense Loes!

Thanks

Tony

Hey Hal,

Perhaps you deleted or deactivated your tables plugin... maybe?

I would be lost without the ability to add tables with rows and columns.

One thing to keep in mind. You may notice that the outlines of the tables you insert may show up on the finished pages.

You may have to ask others how to eliminate the outlines.

Thanks, I found it again, but yes... due enough, there are border lines I can't get rid of.

If you still have the border lines in your tables, you will likely have to edit the code in your themes.

I searched through Google to learn the steps, but I don't remember the link to the steps. It is tricky, and one has to be very careful when working with the coding in the themes, as you probably know.

I suggest sending a note to Marion Black here at WA. She is quite savvy when it comes to working with the coding in some themes.

I use the WP Edit Plugin by Josh Lobe. It has the feature that adds the table button in your menu.

looking for a good divi tutorial or introduction to divi web building

Other than Teddy Bear's vids, the best are:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuasRuWliU48RwnKXf9GesA
and:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaRLBpsQIuusREXx_xK56Kw

These are the best I've found and should keep ya' pretty busy.

Elegant's support may be a little slow but are absolutely stellar with solutions. Sometimes ya' need to just let them know that you're a total noob with Divi, but they are awesome!!!

Nothing compares with Divi, nothing!

YouTube has some good tutorials for using the Divi theme for creating a website from start to finish. Make sure you view a current 2018 tutorial.

Elegant Themes' team has their own training on Divi.. if you are subscribed to their newsletter you'll get in emails. For quick and stylish page Layout I load one of their Pre-made layout and modify to my requirement (there are a lot of layout themes available to Divi users) , this saves a lot of time doing from scratch.

Hey Hal,

Chris Scott swears by Divi and he has created some very helpful training: Hope you find this helpful.

Perfect... Thanks, Trish!

Old school.. too slow to load. I too worked with macromedia.. I haven't tried any plug-in. I wonder if it is responsive since that's so important today? Following..

Hmmm... you're probably right. Image maps are probably considered bloated and contain too much code. SInce HTML is so dynamic, image maps are probably an outdated web feature.

I have tried something like that out, but it kept jumpy. The places where to click seemed to change position every time

Here are 5 to choose from Hal. Hope they help! https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/image-map/

Is there any way of creating a training course consisting of videos and text? I see that we can create image and text-based training that steps through a course over several pa

Hey Hal,

Brian (aka docub) ran into the same issue.

However, what you could do (and I recommend that you do) is once all 5 video tutorials have been published ... create a single post with links to all 5 of your video tutorials (or more, depending on your complete course), and title that post something like. "The Complete Video Training for _____".

Have noticed some other great trainers here doing that and it makes it sooooo much easier to find the training later on.

Thank you Trish! I actually went another route. I just finished editing the 5 parts into one video. Each clip was so short, that after stitching it all together into a single video, it's under 9 minutes long. I'm about to upload the video along with the text transcript under it right now!

I'll message you when it's done. Maybe you'll be kind enough to give me some feedback. Please be gentle. This is my first time creating a training :-)

Your video sounds like a pro made it Hal. You've nothing to fret about... honest!

I know about Camtasia studio that can record your screen in the video.
You can learn how to use this program from youtube.

You misunderstood my question, Nattawuf, but I do appreciate that you tried to help.

Yes Jerome I agree. Marion is very experienced and brilliant with her training/info :)

Hey Hal,
I believe Marion does it with all her trainings. You might want to get with her on the specifics.
Jerome

Thanks, Jerome. I just took a look at Marion's trainings. Yes, she does use videos, but none of them allow you to step through the course automatically. There is a workaround that she uses by adding links at the bottom of the page.

I think I'll go with screenshots instead.
