SSL or Bust!
As you may know, Kyle and Carson have added free SSL certificates this year on all premium websites hosted at WA. And as you also may know, for some, it requires more than simply flicking a switch, toggling a toggle, or checking a checkbox.
So when the time came for me to activate the Secure Socket Layer on my pet website, I held my breathe as I waited to see if the http and the little padlock icon had turned green.
It hadn’t. So, I put off getting it done, because I thought it was going to require a lot of time to figure out.
A few months went by and I finally decided to devote a day to watching the training and sifting through all of my links to update my HTTP to HTTPS. It actually turned out to be quite simple, but not before I spent a couple unnecessary hours looking in the wrong places for the quickest and easiest solution.
I started by rewatching the video tutorials about SSL and adding the https URL in Google using Google tools.
But I still didn’t quite know how to go about finding and changing all of my links within my rather large website, so I used the “Search for help” bar at theta of the WA page and came across Marion Black’s three and a half minute tutorial:

Her solution is a little plugin called “SSL Insecure Content Fixer”. So I went to install the plugin she suggested, but during the process found another plugin that also looked good (it had more downloads) so I installed that one instead. It’s called

The https instantly turned green!

That's why I posted. If I'm just getting around to it, then others still haven't done it yet, either. It's especially important for you Paul because you sell merchandise. People trust a site with SSL much more. Plus... Google will likely rank you much higher if you upgrade to a secure site. It means more business for you!
Paul, the plugin changes them ALL for you! I thought the same thing until I found this little gem. Click "Add Plugin". Search for,
Really Simple SSL (by Rogier Lankhorst).
You'll be glad you did. Make sure it says it's compatible with your theme. I'm sure it is, though.
