I used the url of WA sign-up Page, but when I tested the link on the banner it goes to static image of the banner not to WA.
If you used a Banner from the WA Banners Page then your affiliate link is embedded within the code -
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/banners
You should actually choose the Banner that is the Signup/Join Page.

It sounds like you copied the "direct link" which just links to the image. You need the full "html code" which attached your affiliate link to the image link. see the image I've attached here. I think you used the code in the red box. try the code that the red arrow points to.
