If I want to link an image to an affiliate site, can i use the custom link i've created, and add that under the "destination url" tab of the image in my image gallery? Will tha

I hope that you figured this out!

Depends on the "Custom Link" you created. If you generated a custom link using your affiliate link, then yes it will go to your affiliate link. What did you use to generate custom link? Bitly? Pretty link?

I took the Url from the product page, entered it into my Share a Sale custom link generator and then attached that to the image using the edit/add destination url tab

WA Affiliate Program

So it hit me that i haven't been greeting new non-premium members at all. I was wondering what happens if I do and if I refer them over to premium...Is that considered a referr

You can get all of your affiliate links from the WA Affiliate Program page Shawn (the links that you will use to refer new people to WA and get credit for them):

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/share

Here you will get everything from your stats, the program details and commission structure, your affiliate links, create your custom messages, get banners, and some other awesome features.

Hope this helps you out here.

Thanks Kyle, now that my other pages are up and I'm almost done my levell 5, I'll be moving on to the bootcamp.

You need to have referred them to WA with your code. once they are in WA the person who had the original referral gets paid.

ROCK ON!
E

What if they found it on their own like I did, I went premium after that by clicking the code given to me by the first person who greeted me . Did he get referral benefits from me linking from his welcome post?

Where you found it would have someones code embedded. No one actually "gives" you a code.

Check this out - E

this is an example of the welcome post that I am talking about:

Hey there ===== and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

I am ===== and very excited to help you along the way to achieving online success.

As a new member here, you should check out the Online Entrepreneur Certification getting started course (Level 1). This is a task based course that will get you taking action on daily tasks that will lead to you building web assets right away.

Here is the link that you will see within your main menu labeled "Get Started Here".
Online Entrepreneur Certification - Getting Started (Level 1)
Also, don't forget to set up your profile with an image and description. This will allow the community to know you better and more likely to give assistance. :)

HERE'S HOW TO CLAIM YOUR BONUS :)
-----------------------------------------------

If you enjoy the training and join Premium within the first 7 days, here are some bonuses that I will make sure you get:

(1) You are going to get a 59% discount on your first month Premium membership (only $19)

(2) You are going to get personal and private access to me! If you ever have a question or need help with your campaigns, I will be there.

(3) I am going to be giving you access to the “Diamond Traffic Bonus Program” which includes (The Traffic Explosion 3.0, Traffic Diamond Ultra Keywords, and Low Hanging Fruit Keywords)

But only if you join in your first 7 days (This is what I call the "action takers" bonus)

Anyway =====, thought I would just introduce myself and please let me know if you have any questions by simply replying to this message. :) It's wonderful to have you as part of the community here at WA!

Your friend,
======
what is going on here?

Yep - it looks to me like you came to WA under someone's link with their code and they had not filled in the -------- lines with the proper information.

if you want to see you affiliate link, banners, messages (like this one) and so on you can click on your airplane icon and check out all the tabs there.

If you were to do affiliate bootcamp instead of a niche website you would be building a site and creating messages like this too. And, of course you would get paid for those who sign up to WA by going through your link (with your code).

When you click the airplane you will first see your affiliate link, the part after the = sign is your unique code.

I hope this helps you out some.

ROCK ON!
E

Okay, now i get it, Thanks E!

You're welcome Shawn. I was a bit baffled at first too. it is normal and it probably won't be the first time you get stuck, it's normal so don't stress it. :)

In fact I started with a niche site in recording music and am now going through bootcamp. I still need to add my messages, now I will be certain to fill in my --------- blanks. :)

Keep in mind too, even if you only have a niche site you're affiliate links and banners are still good and folks can still become members where you'll get paid. Two things - use this to your advantage for another income stream and be sure to have your auto messages set up.

I haven't reached the training on setting them up yet but you can search for them in the white box up top that has "Need help Shawn?

E

Just outta curiosity, what bands did you play with in the past? I was in a touring band for a long time and also enjoyed those 15 minutes. In fact my profile pic comes from one of our tours while we were in France...you seem to be coming from the same mind set as me...unfortunately, my yard isn't big enough to farm at the moment . lol

The first few were local and didn't amount to much, Vivid Tangerine, Dirt and a cover band called Bucket of Mice.

The band I had tons of fun with was Camel Clutch. This is where the 15 minutes of fame occurred. I recording guitar on 4 songs of the album they were working on and then took a job promotion from NY to MA to make tons of money. Brilliant move at the time but looking back I missed out on even more life and the east coast tour we had lined up.

Great days but growing up, family, child and so on took hold of me ... but not without a fight. :) I'm working on a unique solo album now, should have been done already but I was hit by a semi truck and had to have my neck rebuilt so it's on hold for awhile.

Sounds like you have been around quite a bit, many tours, France and so on ... what's up with this? Cool stuff I hope.

I just noticed that my google+ page is on the first page under "blood and oil" tv show and have 70000 views of my page, I don't know how to maximize these views and get people

I don't have personal experience but maybe this will help

What was the keyword search? I searched blood and oil and your profile isn't in the top 4 pages of Google. I didn't go beyond that.

Anyway, sometimes when you search yourself, if you are logged into G+, or your browser is cached. Your search term will always appear as number 1. This isn't the case though. Those aren't real results.

As far as your G+ profile goes, I couldn't find it on your WA profile, nor your Website. So if you did get 70k views you would have no problem redirecting that traffic. Just make a status with some links and info. If they were interested enough to visit your G+ page, they would be interested enough to view your site.

Enjoy.

I wrote in bloodintheoil as one word thinking that the site was cached on my browser but I had just cleaned everything up and so the page was no longer there...either way, I have a whole bunch of traffic going to my G+ site...the problem is that I'm new to G+ and don't really know how to take advantage of it....i'm having trouble with my post links from the site to my G+...also, how do I link the g+ to the website so that people checking out the website can also see the G+ page...should I just add a links widget to the sidebar with all that info (twitter, G+, Fbook...etc?)

When posting links on G+ you have to click the link button and enter the link when posting a new status.

As far as your website, it's normally theme based. So if your theme doesn't support built in buttons, You can download a plugin or like you said, add a widget on the side with your links.

I am wondering if using segments of photos, or complete photos taken from screenshots, considered a violation of copyright law? How much of that screenshot can I use?

It also depends on how you plan to use those screenshots. You would be allowed to use some under Fair Use if you met the criteria:

"The copyright law contemplates that fair use of a copyrighted work without permission shall be for purposes such as (1) criticism and comment, (2) parody and satire, (3) scholarship and research, (4) news reporting and (5) teaching, and that such fair use will not result in the infringement of a copyrighted work."

So if I took a snippet of an existing photo from a published product page of say, an online store, for the purpose of doing a product review would that be okay? Or if I used a picture in a "how to" post?

that's right.. that would be 'fair use' of the pictures

It depends on where you got the image. If the image includes photos of a person or people, or a company brand, be careful.

As a member of WA, you are allowed to make screenshots of any WA content and link to your WA affiliate links, that's not a problem.

But every other image on the Web should be treated as copyrighted, unless you got it from the Public Domain, or from an affiliate program that allows it, such as Amazon allowing product images, etc, or if you purchased it form a stock photo site and adhered to the terms of the copyright.

~Jude

If the photos are free to use then it's not a problem. If it's not, then that becomes a problem. You should ask for permission before using the not-so-free photos from the owner though.

Can I take product descriptions from a manufacturers site during a product review?

Yes, you can do that. Usually, enhancing what they say is the better way to go. Use what they say as a basis for your own review and description. Rework, reword and make it your own.

That is the only way to go, especially if you're not that familiar with the item!
