I want to back up my site before updating the version. i would like to record my theme but do not remember what it is. Is it listed somewhere in the dashboard?

Hi Mark,

Just login to your WordPress site and go to:
Appearance > Themes

The one that says 'Active' is your theme.
Screenshot example provided.

Great, Thank you very much. I knew I had seen it, but could not remember where to go.

I have thumbnails on two pages that are coming up one size and the thumbnails size on another page is much smaller. Anyone know why and how can I make them all the same.

it's easy to change sizes on paint.net programme

I always copy/paste all of my images. I don't use media. Sorry...
Ed

In WordPress you can try Settings -> Media to resize thumbnails. I'm not sure what it will do to the resolution since I haven't tried it.

Hope it works for you,
Tom

i dont know if u can. was it same image?

no they are different images. I did a Google search and someone said you might need to install an app for that. but they did give the name of an app. But it is for a wedding planner. They have about 20 thumbnails per page. A couple of pages have thumbnails about 300 X 300 and then on other pages they are about 225 X 225. I cannot find a sizing setting.

Word press health tells me I should not have more than 5 plugins. But I like to use about 7 on a regular basis. Is this a big issue for anyone?

I think that WA need to look at the 4 limit again. Anyway here is another related discussion:

Thanks for the help.

I'm using 6 to 7 plugins at the moment, and although my health score is in the red for this, my site still seems to load quickly.

Neil

I am having the same or similar experience. Thanks for your input.

That's great! No problem :)

I also use 7 or 8 and use Wp Super cache which makes sure your site loads very quickly.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind.

SiteRubix "health" report on our websites tells us FIVE is the most we should be using, but I can't get that low and still have the necessary plugins that I need. I think I have 8 or 9, but I can't eliminate any of them and run a good website. I think SiteRubix needs to adjust that.

I agree, I think that Site Rubix might want to look at that number again.

I agree with Dennis, I use about 17/18. Always check your site speed before and after adding any new plugins.

good advice, thanks.

I didn't really panic over it, but I really wanted to use more than the five it gave as guideline. Thanks for your input.

There was a bit of a panic within the community at the time when I wrote it. Hence the title.

For newbies 5 is the limit, however, some of the more advanced members use more. The lesson presented earlier showed that you can use more if they are light and do not affect load time as much.
Ed

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

Not an issue Mark.

I routinely run 30 plugins or so - some of which actually speed up my site! Shortly after I joined WA, I told the world 5 plugins wasn't gonna happen in my world ;)

See Best of luck with your site!

Dennis

Great, Thanks Dennis.

For instance I see some nice slider graphics in heading. How do you do that?

BTW, Dreamweaver has its own built in sliders but just not as slick.

I tried Dreamweaver a long time ago and didn't like it. But it may have improved some by now. Thanks for the input. It is much appreciated.

The plugin is called "styles"

Thanks I'll look at that and compare it to some of the other suggestions I received.

There are many themes that come with the slider option preloaded.

Take a look at Marion's training. :)

Thanks Kathy, I'll take a look at that.

Project 7. PVII product.

Not familiar with this but I'll look into it. Thanks

Not that I know one buddy. Hope you'll get the answer soon.

Thanks
