A little bit about me and my journey!

“Doing What’s Right Today, Means No Regrets Tomorrow” my motto in life and practiced in my daily life and for more than 45 years in corporate America.

If you’re like many people, most want to know more about a person before trusting and listening to what they have to say. My instinct is to believe a person until learning otherwise. “Strange I know!” Anyway, I am an extrovert by nature, but I’m uncomfortable talking about myself, but to get my point across I must do so in this correspondence. So, please bear with me!

I spent more than half of my career in sales, therefore, very positive about life, people, and things. Most of my jobs were in corporate finance—commercial banking and as a corporate financial advisor– financing my clients’ technology purchases. All the while, I found time to teach a college corporate finance class at Florida International University (FIU) located in Miami, Florida.

I took a break recently to do a second edit of the book written by my siblings and me entitled, “A Journey of Love, Faith, Strength . . . Determination.” We were 14 children born to Mom and Dad consisting of eight girls and six boys over twenty-four years. There are eight of us still living—five girls and three boys. I was the eighth child in birth order but was the first sibling who didn’t allow culture, environment, society or lack of money to stop me from seeking and achieving my dreams and goals.

I started a storm and when the dust had settled 10 of 14 of us (siblings) had earned college degrees. Four didn’t complete high school but two brothers owned their own businesses, one brother died at age 22 due to undiagnosed health issues and was challenged mentally and one sister became a Mom of 9 children—all the children first names began with the letter “M.” Strange, I know!

I love to travel and started straight out of college. I joined the U.S. Peace Corps and served two years in Kenya, East Africa. Lots of down time to think and plan my future during Kenya’s long rainy seasons. It turned out to be perhaps the best two years of my life living on $100/month. Since those initial years, I have traveled to all but seven of USA states, to Africa, Europe, and South America with Asia on the radar for next year.

I was born in Georgia. I grew up in New Jersey. Then, I went to college in North Carolina and attended graduate school in Georgia, moved to New Jersey after graduation, but worked in NYC. Eventually, I relocated to Houston, Texas and got married. I made a career change moved to Miami, and ten years and five jobs later, I was hired by the first company that offered me a job during graduate school.

I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in June 1982 by way of a J O B promotion and retired from that J O B on June 30, 2002. I hadn’t looked back or missed enjoying life as a productive retiree and like the bonnie rabbit still going with no slowing up in sight.

I wasn’t ever satisfied trading time (JOB) for money, but it was one that paid the bills and gave the family income to live off. For more than 40 years, I looked for a business I could operate from home part-time, and I admit I had a bit of success, but not enough to quit my J O B. Nevertheless, I didn’t stop trying. But I remember the specific point in time where it all came together . . .

My wife and I had just returned from home from a fundraising cruise to Alaska for my college class that I sponsored. I opened my email, and there was an email inviting me to look at MOBE without hesitation I pulled out my debit card and registered. I was a MOBE Diamond Consultant with no regrets until the FTC intervened.

I used to say while working in corporate America and my former employer, that there is life after . . . and I now say there is life, love, joy, and happiness as a Wealthy Affiliate member.

Hey Grover, just wanted to pop back and see how you are doing. I noticed that you haven't quite set-up your account yet, just wanted to let you know there is a video on how to do this if there is any confusion. Setting up your account will lead to much better help here within the community as people feel like they can connect with you better (with an image and a description)

Just wanted to make sure that all was good and if you do need a hand with anything, just let me know! :)
