Can anyone help me by telling me if you have to buy another domain name when the first one failed to
My first web site page failed, what do I do?
It appears that something went wrong at this point:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-hosting-setting-up-your-domain-dns
Or, did you get that far and everything was still fine?
Yes, I got that far and everything was fine. It was only when I was ready to check out my site after everything was done that nothing showed on the site. I guess I'll have to choose another theme, I just don't know what went wrong. I followed the video step by step.
Thank you for responding!
Nothing showed up on my page after I had done everything Kyle spoke of in the video leading up to the completion. None of the info. I enetered was seen on my web site.
Lyndi, I guess I'm not good in explaining the situation, but when I finished putting all of the info. on the page that I wanted to show on the web site heading, Ex. About Me, or my Training header, none of this showed up on my web site page.
Yes you could just try a new theme. Are you sure you clicked on publish when you were finished with each page and post?
Domain name doesn't cost much. I have 6 of them, one of them only cost me $1, one was $5.
Hello Steve, the one I bought is fine, I guess. It's the info. that Kyle lead us to put on our sites that's the problem. Nothing ever showed up on the page. Only my web site name showed at the top of the page and that's it.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by failed. No traffic? No sales? If you make another website you will need another name; hence, you will have to purchase a new domain name.
After I had done everything that Kyle spoke of in the video on setting up my web site, nothing showed on the web site. I was told I may have to choose another web site page.
If you're talking about choosing another theme, then, no, you don't need a new domain name. Have you tried another theme? We have tons to choose from here.
Yes, that's what I mean. Do I have to choose another theme, and if so do you just start all over?
You can choose any theme offered by Wealthy Affiliate. Go into your dashboard and click on Appearance, Themes. The one you are using will come up first. Then there will be a search option. You can try them out with the "live preview" button at the bottom of each one. When you find one you like, you can install it. You may have to do some stuff over as it doesn't all translate cleanly between themes, but if you still have all your copy, probably not too much work. Good Luck!

Ok, so then did you get through this step?

Or, could this be where things went wrong? I don't think your theme is the problem. Did you be sure and save your changes, as well?

Following kyle in the video above and doing everything step by step my web page doesnt show any of m
The details are not showing up on my web site after I have followed all the details. Does anyone know what I did wrong?
After you publish a page, you have to put it in the menu. Click
Appearance - Menu , then add the page to the menu.
Can you elaborate just a little more, are you creating your site and have content on it or just setting it up, nothing will show until you write and put content on it .
Hey Greg, also in your dashboard is a WP tutorial that has been real helpful to me. Take a look , it might help you too. Jon
Hey Jon, I went back and watched the video once again, and everything he had done, I had done. I opened my web site and there's nothing but the title of my web site at the top of the page. I'm as lost as a termite in a yo yo!
You got nothing Greg, The title is the only thing that's active & it doesn't take you anywhere. Personally I'd try switching themes, not sure which one, I'm using 2014, so far I love it, very quick & it's mobile compatible, That's a Must for any theme now. Good luck brother, here for ya OK.
Thank you Jon, so much! Now, what do you mean by using 2014 as your theme. Are you talking about starting over with a different web site face? Sorry, I wish I could understand this better.
Hey Greg, sorry it's taken so long to respond, I had a couple of stumbling blocks to kick over.
1st go to your dashboard to 'learn more about getting started'. There's a little graduation hat in front of it. I think if you read this it will help you bunches OK.
I will help you with anything possible, I just think this will be more helpful to start with. I know it has helped me a lot. Jon
Jon, thank you so much for your help tonight. I'll do what you suggested. No worries about the delay, I'm just appreciative of your help.
I'm sorry Jon, I went to the comm. dash board and saw where at the top of the page it said getting started, but I didn't see anything that looked like a graduation hat in front of it. Again, I appreciate your help, but I just don't see it. I understand I need to change my theme, but I don't know which one would best suit my need. I'll check on here again tom. morning.
Greg, it's likely an older theme you're using. The 2014 theme is this years updated theme. It has top ratings with very little problems. Every feature that you want. try it & see. That might be why I have a nifty tutorial, because it's the newest theme. Good luck Greg.
Jon, good evening my friend! Should I just start over since I've got to pick a new theme or is there a way to pick up where I put my page titles?
I think that you can do that from your DB in themes Greg, No sorry, you have to go pick themes 1st. Pick 3 or 4 that you like the best, The ones that you pick should be stored, & you can do demos of each one. Have you checked your site tonite?
Hello Jon, no I haven't checked my site this evening, but I'm going to pick out the 3 or 4 themes like you suggested tom. evening. I'm ready for the weekend to get started. I'll have more time tom. evening.
Good luck Greg, The last couple of days there have been some strange things happening online. Maybe it's solar flares, maybe something else like viruses. .Yahoo was out part of the day today. IDK but your site may be working fine now. Last night it was all white when I checked, tonite it looked normal. Still it's smart to have some backup templates picked out, just in case. Just make sure that they are mobile compatible ones ok. More people are using their iphones & other devices now days. Til tom. Jon
Good evening Jon. I wanted to let you know I started from the beginning tonight watching the videos and following everything again, but I do not see where I go and choose the themes. I was going to choose another theme and try transfering all of my info. to the new one.
When you go to build my website, If I remember right, you pick a name 1st, if you liked the last name you had, you can use that name with a 2 behind the name. Just in case you hadn't thought of that.
Where do you live Greg?
