Think warm thoughts - A special day up North!
Good news for you my friends in the Northern Hemisphere- Today was the shortest day of the year, winter solstice 2016! 7 hours 49 minutes and 41 seconds to be exact (in the UK). Last night was the longest night.
Although some say this is the first day of winter, from a meteorological point of view winter is at the beginning of December. But the days will start getting longer which means summer will be upon us again in the twinkling of an eye - admittedly a looonnngg twinkle but you know what I mean. :)
If you only got a few hours of sunlight today check out this video of Fairbanks, Alaska where they practically had no sunlight!! (actually only 3 hours). So hard for me to imagine!
For us in the southern hemisphere it was the longest day and last night the shortest night. (Wonder if that is why I woke up so late?)
If winter is upon you right now, think warm thoughts and remember the days are getting longer!!
Be happy, stay well, go safe my friends.Vee

Thanks for your lovely considerations for us in the North. I am glad that the days get longer again, although the cold and nasty weather can continue for months!
I wish you a happy summer time!
Heidi
thank Heidi - we are having sooooo much rain at the moment. Constant showers but still warm so i am grateful.
You see, and we would need some rain. Normally it should rain these weeks in winter to fill the water reservoirs for summer - but it doesn't. Who can still deny climate change?????
I could name at least ONE person, but it is christmas und ich will nicht gehaessig sein, lol
