A quick reminder: Working without distractions

For some of us our phones have become almost like our life blood. Having our phones close by at all times is a MUST and some of us can just not imagine living without a phone.

BUT, having your phone close by when you are wanting to do focused work (without distractions)can be a real hinderance.

So before you start your focused work:

1. Have a drink of water - your brain will work better

2. 2.Set up your work space

3. TURN OFF your phone

4. Turn on your timer for the length of time you want to work for

5. When the timer goes off, STOP working, take a break

6. Drink another glass of water.

I am finding this very helpful, hope you do too!

All the best my WA family

Vee

Hi Vee, thanks for the tip. It's definitely worth a try. I appreciate it. All the best.

Great advice Vee!

Just do it, and do not pay attention to distractions.

Great plan! Distractions are the assassin's of productivity...Oh, I just got a Facebook notification on my phone, gotta go!

Nice that you're able to start your work day at 13:09, Valina. Just kidding!

This is very similar to the "Pomodoro" technique for time management. Very effective.

I must be very lucky- I have a TV right beside me, a phone in my pocket, a pile of library books beside me and hundreds of other distractions but can't get my mind off my work!!!

I will answer my mobile phone when it's my grown children, they have first priority. My daughter is pregnant with her first child and my first grand-baby. My oldest son only phones me only when he really needs help (which is seldom) and my youngest son is serving in the Navy. So, when they phone mom, it is because they really need mom.

My friends and relatives do know that I work at home and know not to phone me during the day. Many of them work outside the home anyways.

It's the distractions on the internet that I need to control, as I sit here in front of my computer. And I am learning to find a balance between the WA community and getting through the WA training.

Thanks for reminding us of our priorities in staying focused.

I'll try that.
Cheers, Tosh :)

Hope it works for you

Thanks for sharing, Vee.

Welcome

Sure.

Sounds like a good plan. For me #7 would be to take a different kind of break after drinking all of that water:)
