How do you start your day?

I am assuming that most of us know the value of having a good breakfast in the morning. Whether or not we have one which is going to sustain us throughout the morning and is nourishing for the brain and body is of course a different matter.

We most likely also know of the benefits of exercising in the morning and other "good habits". Knowing and doing are also two very different things, right? This will probably act more as a reminder for most of us but it might be new for some others. In which case I would have been particularly happy to have helped you a bit.

Here are some of my personal morning habits which I have found to be very valuable in one way or another.

1. A morning meditation is particularly helpful as you can use it to set the stage of how your day is going to be. Whether it be a guided or still meditation, this is one habit which I do not compromise on.

2. Asking myself how I can be of service on any given day is another habit you might find helpful. I think it encourages a mindset of giving (of our time, resources etc)

3. Another question I ask myself in the morning is if I were to do one single thing today which would leave me feeling good at the end of the day, what would that be? This then becomes my number one priority for the day

4. We all know the importance of having a to do list - I do too. Trouble is mine often gets too long, so what I now do is write my TOP 5 and at the top of the list comes the three absolutely must do things, including the one thing from number 3 above.

5. A round of exercise in the morning to get some fresh oxygen into the lungs is great for the brain and the body. After a night's sleep get rid of the stale air in your lungs and pump them up with some fresh air to get you started and keep you going. This could also be just some stretching or yoga.

6. Oil pulling - an ancient ayurvedic practice which promotes oral health but has loads of other benefits. Especially beneficial with coconut oil.

7. Drinking water in the morning is important because after 8 hours or so of sleep the body has dehydrated and we need to replenish our bodies (and brain ) with water. Adding a few drops of lemon to a glass of warm water is great for getting your digestive system going again.

8. A good breakfast is essential especially if you are doing a lot of "brain" work. The brain needs good food to be able to function properly - this would include some fruit, juice, avocados, eggs, nuts...

Those are some of my morning habits, what are yours?

Hi Vee, I usually start the day with a nice cup of tea watching the news on TV. Irv.

First thing I do upon wakening is thank the Good Lord for allowing me to 'wake up' to see another day, Then I take my vitamin, water, get freshened up, eat breakfast, then hit my pc.

I normally wake up around 6 AM and start my day with either a Nespresso coffee or chai tea and do my meditation while it's being prepared. No breakfast but afterwards I either go for a long walk if the weather permits (around 5 miles) or hit the gym for an hour.
I then have a light breakfast of either egg scramble with toast or fresh fruit.

Can´t wait for my tea in the morning! With a ciggie. Then water with vitamins mixed in. Then a banana. Time for more tea next. All the while I check email and place clicks in several programs. When that´s done it´s time for exercising by doing physical work and going up and down lots steps.

Hi Ver, always start my day with a coffee. Xx

Clinck!

This is a great reminder. Thank you for sharing!
