Do you find yourself having trouble prioritizing your tasks. Trying to juggle daily life and online business? Running daily chores around the house, picking up the kids, running your errands and still getting in time on the laptop to try and progress your business?

It's really easy to be busy and not accomplish anything. I have a system that will help you tremendously. It may take a little time for you to work it out, but it will pay off in the long run.

100/50/10 Task System

First of all, I can't take credit for coming up with this. A colleague, Julie Stoian, put this system together and it has made my day much more productive from the first day I put it in action.

First, you want to identify what your 100 tasks truly are. (I'm not saying 100 tasks as in that many tasks; I'm saying 100 tasks as in their score is 100) One thing to understand, we're not rating the task on how important it is, or how much you love it or how much time it takes. We’re categorizing the task based on how much brain power it takes to do.

Make a list of the most common things you do in life, and we’re going to label them as 100, 50, or 10.

100 means it takes 100% of your brain power and concentration.
50 means that it takes concentration, but it’s not so difficult that you can’t do it while other things are happening around you.
10 tasks are just mindless type tasks that are a part of life but can almost be mechanical.
Some of you who struggle with focus are going to be tempted to identify everything as a 100. Don't.

Here's a way to look at it. If you were in the middle of a task and someone interrupted you, would you be able to get back at it after the interruption? If so, then that would be a 50 task.

An example would be if you're working out, and your son comes in and asks where the cereal is, you could answer and get right back to your work out.

If he was to interrupt you during a podcast interview, or course writing session, regaining concentration afterwards is a lot harder. That would be a 100 task.

10 tasks are mechanical or unthinking routines, like taking a shower or driving. Or they're a time wasting task like standing in line. 100 tasks are what takes the most brain power, where new ideas, services and products are spawned and usually get snuffed out by 50 and 10 tasks.

So, make your list of all the tasks during your day, and label them 100, 50 or 10.

Sacred Time

The Time You Have In Your Day That You Are Absolutely In Control Of. You Can 100% Dictate How You Spend That Time. This is your Sacred Time. No kids. No spouse. Time you have totally to yourself.

So, now, identify when your Sacred Time is. If you're a stay-at-home mom trying to start a business, you may feel like you have no Sacred Time. You may have to change your schedule around some. Get up super early, before everyone else. Or move your workout to a 50 task slot time. Here's an example:

11:00pm -7:00am SLEEP (maybe, but baby wakes up)
7:00am -8:00am Kids wake up
8:00am - 12:00pm Babycare
12:00pm - 2:00pm Babycare
2:00pm - 5:00pm Big kids come home
5:00pm - 8:00pm Dinner & Bedtime
8:00pm - 11:00pm I’m dead

Some of you might do this and it looks like this;

11:00pm -7:00am SLEEP
7:00am -8:00am Busy Time
8:00am - 12:00pm Sacred Time (for 100 tasks)
12:00pm - 2:00pm Sacred Time (for 100 tasks)
2:00pm - 5:00pm Half Time
5:00pm - 8:00pm Busy Time
8:00pm - 11:00pm Half Time

You'll notice I've put in Half Time. This is time you have control of, but, not totally. There are others around that may need you at some point during that time, so it's a good spot for 50 tasks.

Some may look like this;

11:00pm -7:00am SLEEP
7:00am - 11:00pm Sacred Time

This could be as bad as someone with no time. You have so much time that Sacred Time isn't sacred. You'll say, "Oh, I can do that later."

So, you must figure out your Sacred Time. Everyone has some.

100 Tasks ONLY During Sacred Time.

The whole purpose of this exercise is to MATCH your 100 tasks with your SACRED Time. DO NOT do 50 or 10 tasks during this time. Some of you may figure out that your only Sacred Time is 5:00-7:00 in the morning. Say your morning routine is work out, make a smoothie and take a shower. None of these are 100 tasks. Not even close. How about sitting down and working on your 100 tasks of your business instead, during that time. and moving those tasks to a 50 block later in the morning?

Finding your Sacred Time and matching with your 100 tasks is not as easy as you may think, but if you can come up with at least 90 minutes Sacred Time a day and ONLY work on your100 tasks during that time, you will notice an immediate drastic difference in your productivity!

This is an excellent way of looking at time management and very original in looking at it from a brain power perspective rather than from the customary 'what do I need to do first' perspective.
I'll definitely give this a go - thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Rich :-)
