Still Working 9 to 5?

I have to chuckle a bit. No I'm not making fun of you.

Many folks want to leave their 9 to 5 job to become an online entrepreneur hoping it will free up their time to enjoy other life pursuits. It's true, as time goes by then a successful business website can do just that.

However, in the beginning get ready to work really hard to achieve that dream.

Want to escape your 9 to 5 job and become an online entrepreneur? Well, get ready to work 5 to 9 instead. That's what it takes to get things up and running in the beginning.

I started my work day today at 10 am and won't quit until probably 11 pm tonight. I have so much to do on my websites.

But then, that is the nature of any business whether it is online or a brick and mortar store downtown. Business owners of any type have to really work at it to make the big bucks.

I just happen to love running an online business so time isn't a factor. I'm doing something I dearly love to do.

When I started in 2004 with my first business website, I suddenly realized I was beginning my work day at dawn and ending way into the evening. Eating and having my bathroom constitutions were such an annoyance.

I decided to time myself and discovered I was putting in 80 hour work weeks. There was so much learning and work to do on my business website. Shocking. I only had one website.

What I have found is that it takes patience, persistence, and a dedication to devoting a big chunk of time to make a real online business that makes a full time income.

Hold on to your dream like a pit bull and never let go.

You will achieve your goal by putting in the time necessary to make the big bucks.

p.s. you don't have to work as hard as I do but the more time you put in then the sooner you will achieve your dream.

Great article, Grampamike!

Well said, l don't mind doing 10 hours but doing it for myself,l mind doing 5 hours for my boss who feels he`s doing me a favour that I'm working for him
Been online 9 hours straight now, l don't mind, but l think my boss bill have to bribe me big time for me to work 9 hours a day lol.

Great points. It is so true that in your own business you work harder. But the satisfaction is knowing it is for you and not someone else.

This is motivating and encouraging, have one website too, will try to put in more time to work on my website. Thanks for sharing,God bless you.

More motivating and encouraging words from you. I needed this extra bolt of energy. This is exactly what I was thinking and also planning to do.
When you work all day long on something you love, time flies. For me, it's like the levels of a really difficult but enjoyable game lol

Thanks again, Mike.

Oh, you're so right, Grampa Mike. While I am working fulltime, I have to set aside sometime before going to work and after work. It's a lot. But organizing and scheduling work time helps a lot. This is the only way for me to get my online business running soon. I can't wait to get out of my teaching job soon! Btw, thanks for sharing your insights.

LOve some of the things that you come up with always brings a smile to my face !!!!

I do work as hard as you and I agree, you do have to put forth a lot of effort to start and maintain a business. But it is well worth it! If you want to be able to know you are making money while you sleep, then you must give it your all to make that dream come true! I also work on my website around 10-16 hours a day to make sure that I will achieve this dream.

Ah, a kindred spirit. By the way, I just installed my new Thrive theme. Talk about putting in time. This is going to be quite an adventure.

:) I, myself, still don't know how to use the content builder properly except kind of with templates. I mainly just know how to use what is already there instead of adding stuff because I don't know how to place it where I want it. It always goes to the top or bottom. But in the future I will learn how to use it. Right now I am just using the thrive shortcodes and the extra stuff like widgets. But I am sure my posts will look better if I learn to use the content builder properly.

I've just recently been breaking my schedule of staying awake and working on this stuff for 60 hours and then sleeping for 10. Been burning the candle at both ends but I have to say I've been enjoying it.

I've been unemployed and had the time to do this right now but the time is coming very soon, that I will need to begin the "9-5" job crowd again.

I might have less time to work on the site, but you KNOW I'm still going to be dumping every second of my free time into this!!!

Excellent reminder GrampaMike, thanks for the post!
