I have bought the theme I wish to use for my website but it will not allow me to save my API key on WA. can anyone offer any advice?

thanks in advance

If your site is hosted at WA then put in a support ticket. They can usually accommodate requests like this. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

thanks.

I keep receiving this error message:

The Venture Pro Theme API Licence Key has not been activated for this website. Click here to activate the API License Key.

I want to start writing a blog with WordPress, so I downloaded the app on my computer.
I recently added the jetpack plugin to my website that connects my WordPress blog to

Jetpack is the worst plugin you can use for your site, that's one reason the WA does not allow it's use. Nothing has changed with this plugin it just gets worse and worse. Personally I would remove it from your site.

Can you suggest another plugin to replace its publicize feature? It's really useful to have posts automatically posted on Google, Twitter, Facebook and LInked-In when they go live on the site. Thanks.

If I stopped using Jetpack I would need to install at least 4 other plugins to replace it: a social sharing/likes plugin, an image widget, a plugin to automatically share my posts to social media, and one for nitifications/subscriptions... . Site health score would take a pummelling.....

The one I know many people use is called SNAP by NextScripts (social media auto poster) There is a free version and a paid version.

Here's the link to NextScripts: http://www.nextscripts.com/social-networks-auto-poster-for-wordpress/

And here's a link from wordpress:

https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/social-networks-auto-poster-facebook-twitter-g/

Thanks. I'll test it on one of my sites. Appreciated.

Jetpack is not allowed on WA servers.

From Carson:
"There are 1000's of plugins out there that are great, and many that are really harmful to your website. If you attempt to install a plugin that is not allowed it won't work and we'll disable it for you.

Keeping a list of "blacklisted" plugins would be a tough job and the list would be really long. Instead, all Premium members at WA get protected against plugins like this automatically. We'll keep your site free of things that can hurt your rankings, and harm your hard work!"

Hi Bob, Carson's comment was posted 3 years ago. Things may have changed since then. I use Jetpack very carefully on my 3 sites here - mostly for the Publicize feature. A few teething problems setting it up but support have been very helpful here. If you're not used to it (from Wordpress dot com) it's probably not one for you, but if you have used it previously on http://wordpress.com you get to appreciate its features. I've checked my sites using P3 plugin with and without JP installed and it takes less time loading than All in One SEO. Thanks.

I was hoping that Kyle or Carson would weigh in on this thread. If things have changed so that Jetpack is now allowed, that older thread should have a note inserted to indicate that's now the case.

If it's offered as an option to upload when you search for plugins I would assume it must be OK otherwise it would have been removed. But as my grandad used to say, never assume as it's made up of an A** with U and Me. :)

As far as I can tell, the list of plugins available to install comes directly from the http://wordpress.org site and contains every plugin that's available. It doesn't appear to be filtered by WA at all. (I think I'll PM Kyle to see if he can weigh in with the latest info on jetpack.)

if you could let me know the outcome I would appreciate it :)

I've PM'd Kyle on this. Hopefully, we'll get a definitive answer one way or the other.

I use Jetpack too for various features and it certainly isn't a blacklisted plugin by WA anymore, although it may have been in the past.

You need to ask the WA support team here to allow the connection to http://Wordpress.com. I would suggest not using the PHOTON option on Jetpack as that serves your images from their site and you lose SEO benefit from your images. I have most of my Jetpack turned off except for a few choice bells and whistles such as publicize.

how do I go about asking the WA support team?

Go to the Websites & Hosting link in the left-hand column under Tools. Then click on the Site Support link in the top right of the screen. Click where it says at the top to start a new Hosting Support ticket. They usually respond quite quickly.

thanks for your help :)

Ok. So on my front page (choosingsupplements.com), one of my menus is called equipment. Within that category menu I have a category menu called books. I currently have 2 posts

Go to Settings - Reading - For each article in a feed, show. Tick on Summary and click Save Changes.

If in case that doesn’t work, you can do it manually. Here’s how Hope this helps =)

The manual way worked perfectly!!

Much obliged :)

You can create a drop down menu on your top menu. For example: You have the "Training" tab which is your training page. In appearance-menus, place "equipment" and "books" as sub items under the Training tab. When your readers place there mouse over the training tab they will see a drop down menu.

Hope this helps.
Laura

thanks for the advice :)

I've noticed that on WA you can create a blog. Is this blog limited to only those WA members?

If so, can someone advise me how to start a blog on Wordpress? We already u

Yes, the WA blogs are only for the WA members and WordPress is different.
Just build a website through SiteRubix as taught in the training and it will automatically create a WordPress website for you within that.

Cheers,
Suhail.

WA blogs are searchable on the internet and available for non-members to read.

You don't need an account on wordpress.org nor wordpress.com. WA uses the wordpress open-source software package. It provides you the capability to create and manage your sites through its siterubix site management system.
