As The World Turns. Some Still Insist That It's Standing Still. Until When?
SoftBank is considering making a majority investment in WeWork (15-20 Billion investment)…. Why is this relevant?
WeWork has become one of the largest unicorns (defined as billion dollar privately owned companies) in the entire world. As disrupters, they have done this by re-inventing work. They provide office space on-demand and they're heading towards a 'one stop shop' business model that provides all the startup resources necessary.
WeWork is disrupting commercial real estate by discarding everything that was accepted and creating something entirely new and unique. I think this means that the business world of entrepreneurs, freelancers, creators, and remote workers continue to represent a larger portion of the workforce. They truly value flexibility and collaboration, and are willing to pay to avoid working from home (even if it is just for part of the time).
The workforce is transforming before our very eyes and it is time that we paid more attention to similar "one stop shop" disrupters' approaches.
