I can't speak for everyone but, I would see it as a distraction. The reason I say this is because when I come to WA, I come to learn. So frankly, I would pay no mind to advertisements on WA.

Since "no spam" is such an important aspect of WA, I can see how a classified area would be a problem. Maybe that would be a niche for someone--a classifieds website aimed particularly at WA members.

Brand new to WA and affiliate marketing. I am a biologist and a teacher, but am going to devote my next 7-9 months to learning internet marketing and diversifying my income str

You are always going to have to get your website address in front of as many eyes as possible. Any method that does that, and increases the number of potential visitors is valid, as long as it doesn't cost you more in time and money than you get back from it. Hope that makes sense!

That does make sense--thanks! I will have to keep track of my effort both online and offline and simply look at ROI (Return On Investment) from both angles. I have in my head that I will be more effective face to face, but people market online for a reason! It will probably be a lot more work to contact 100 people face to face than to contact 1,000 people online--but face to face could still be more effective. I will be curious, and I hope to improve my skills both offline and online!

We don't do it so much purposefully but it comes to us by reputation. occasionally we may run a newspaper or green sheet ad.

This might help, although you would substitute your own niche/product/service rather than WA. You can also type "offline marketing" or "local marketing" in the WA search box to find other tips. ~Jude

Thanks Jude--just what I was looking for!
