Page 1 on Google Doesn't Necessarily Mean Traffic

I have struggled to get Organic traffic to my site for quite some time now.

Although I have quite a few posts that rank high on page 1 of google and for some time now, there seems to be a block on getting people to actually click through those posts and provide the traffic that would have a chance to convert.

Apparently getting to page 1 is a feat in itself, but getting the traffic seems to be another obstacle.

Would really love to know your opinions on what I am missing to get those page 1 rankings converting into traffic.

Thank you

Interesting question and some great suggestions below.

Page 1 of Google does not necessarily mean more traffic, you are correct. I'm no expert, but I think one factor may be the niche you are involved with.
Ed

You have gotten some excellent suggestions already from reading through the comments...

Not knowing the keywords, nor exactly what you have done to now, might I suggest adding in videos to the posts where it would fit...

I would publish them on your channel on YouTube (create one if you currently don't have one) and embed them into your posts. The search engines from YouTube and Google are huge...

You need to do SEO on the videos as well (likely some training here on that so I won't go into it here)...That will help draw traffic from that search engine database as well...

You can also publish versions of the video on Facebook using their platform to get more SEO juice and organic traffic, and even share on other social platforms too...

All the rest of my suggestions have been covered below I think...The number of searches per month may be low, but you can kick up the traffic using alternative means too...

Cheers!

Thanks Dave, good suggestion :-)

HI, Gordon. There are also tools that aid in organic and it's a numbers game. When you find long tail keywords and make the article totally relevant it start to work in your favor. Good Luck.

Thank you Sam

Hi Gordon, I assume the ranking is checked incognito.

Long tail keywords imply low traffic and searches so probably this is the main reason. The question is how to stand out from the crowd. Why not trying stars rating suggested in Craig's training. Those red stars do stand out and make your snippet different.

You are obviously doing much better in social media than me, this is my weak point.

All the results come from Jaaxy site rank and rank tracker

Try using your best page as the one customers will see first to entice them to explore further. Could be your first page isn't appealing enough.

It is trying to get customers to click on any page I am concerned about. If I had the traffic bouncing out at 100% that would give me something to go on but if I havent got the traffic to explore I cant make the alterations

Do not put all your eggs in one basket, use social media, YouTube, search engines to obtain traffic. As a general user of Google, ask yourself, do you use page one?

I tend to go from page 1 to page 5, if not found then I search a different way.

I use social media, all posts get automatically posted to facebook. I have joined 50 FB groups and post to 30 every day (15 am and 15 pm) I post to Google+ Twitter and Flipboard and a profile on LinkedIn.

Sounds like you have a handle on it.

I used AHrefs to view what the issue was that you are seeing. As far as what I see, the keywords used to obtain #1 are low search volume.

I use Jaxxy along within Google Keyword planer then double check with AHrefs.

You can see your DA and UR as well.

I am not recommending anything,m just talking about my approach to give you a different view point.

I trust it will help.

Can you expand on your meaning of low search volume keywords Shane?

The number of searches a month for the keyword.

In AHrefs, it shows them being used at the very highest search of 200 per month then you have to add in your competition.

I would aim at low hanging fruit at a higher search volume, it is more work but well worth the effort.

Example:

I have seen some low hanging fruit at 2000 searches a month with under a 100 sites in competition.

Thanks Shane maybe I'm not trying hard enough

I didn't mean that at all, I was just saying that to give you a better perspective on how to look at things in the future.

None of this is easy but having more tools is helpful to target better.

I already have ahrefs so if you have a list of keywords then I can easily tell you what is the best to go after and the search volume with who you would be your competition if you want.

A free tool is majestic as well if you want to try that.

Thanks for the offer Shane but I need to go through all my posts and reassess the keywords and I Just found an Avg 9801 QSR 1 so going to rewrite my very first post from way back when targeting that keyword.
Will have a look at majestic Thanks:-)

Pay attention to these two suggestions here...

Here is some stuff to do:
Check your page title and meta description. Make it more willing to click on it. This could be the first what to optimise.
You can use this tool to figure out what could be the optimal CTR% for your average position: https://www.advancedwebranking.com/cloud/ctrstudy/

P.S. If your targeted keyword are full with Ads, then it could impact organic CTR's as well and even 1st position could get sometimes only 5-8% of CTR.

I have very few ads on all pages and posts, as they distract from the content

sorry, i.m. Google AdWords ads which are on the Google result page all together with organic results.

I understand

Great you are on page one but it does take time for people to find you and I have found that by posting my blog to LinkedIn and Facebook groups has tripled my traffic - you see you have to throw the bait as it will not come to you at first ok
