Why Peanut Butter!

Here I was, about 51/2 months ago, follow the training and all ready to start my website. Wait a minute, why would I start only one website, I can host a whole bunch of websites here at WA.

Yup! I fell into the newbie, "I can do it all" mindset and register a few domain names and start creating some websites.

It did learn pretty quick that opening these sites were easy, but building, maintaining and keeping them relevant was another story.

I end up putting some aside for a later day and focus on two sites.

At this point, you're probably wondering when I am going to get to the peanut butter part, don't worry it's coming.

So I decide to focus on my work from home site to leverage the awesome affiliate program provided here at Wealthy Affiliate. I work hard at creating content, tweaking the site and today it is starting to pay off as my stats continuously improve. I still have a long way to go but I am optimistic as it continues to improve.

As I was building the work from home site it was getting closer to Christmas holidays. So I decide to create a basic site called pbgiftideas so that I can post some affiliate links for family and friends as some have shown an interest to buy online and would like to support my new online adventure.

So the site served its purpose for that time but quickly died as I was no longer updating or adding any value to it.

Then one day someone asked me,"What does "pb" stand for? Peanut Butter?

I'm like, "No!" It stands for Paul and Brenda (my wife).

That got me to thinking. I just viewed Jay's four-part case study on building a niche site from start to finish on a very specific niche on "Football Snack Helmets".

Just for FYI looks like he'll be doing starting another such "Live" case study this Friday, April 1st, 2016...Hmmm wonder if this is an April Fools. I hope not! You can register here if interested. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-live-n...

Os after seeing that case study on Football Snack Helmets I think about converting my broad and generic PBGiftIdeas site into a Peanut Butter site.

I kept the same domain name and content. I just hid the content from the general users. it took some re-engineering of the site, new template, update all the menus and start building the new niche on top of my old foundation.

A true DIY website renovation!

So far it is working. I have my main foundation down, basic product information with little to no content. I check on Google search Console and see that my site is ranking around the number 5 region now.

It is such an awesome feeling to see those results.

I know I have a lot of work to do on that site to make it profitable. I mean how many people are interested in buying peanut butter online. I am seeing some trends and will be leveraging on those subjects to see if I can improve my CTR.

I'll keep you posted.

PS: now I always get a craving for Peanut Butter when working on my site, Soon i'll have to write "How to lose a peanut butter belly fast!"

Cheers

Paul

Totally inspiring and positive Paul ... like turning peanuts into peanut butter? I'll be back for more common-sense solutions. Nice to meet you.

:-)

Very humorous blog, Paul! I don't even like peanut but (loves da jelly, though) but I can't wait to see how your new site progresses! Maybe I'll get a gift jar this next Christmas for someone :-)

I just baked bread. Now I think I need a peanut butter sandwich! I just looked up my all time favourite peanut butter brand (Squirrel) and found, like many other products taken over by various companies, it has been discontinued. B****r! When I was in Canada, many USAers used to visit just to buy Squirrel What's the word coming to. Bicks dill pickles no longer are Canadian. Treason I say.

That's the beauty of a plain, it can always be modified as we go.
