DIABETES - SO ALARMING!

Key findings from the National Diabetes Statistics Report, 2014 (based on health data from 2012), include:

  • 29 million people in the United States (9.3 percent) have diabetes.
  • 1.7 million people aged 20 years or older were newly diagnosed with diabetes in 2012.
  • Non-Hispanic black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native adults are about twice as likely to have diagnosed diabetes as non-Hispanic white adults.
  • 208,000 people younger than 20 years have been diagnosed with diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
  • 86 million adults aged 20 years and older have prediabetes.

Singapore has the second-highest proportion of diabetics among developed nations, a new report by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) revealed.

It said 10.53 per cent of people in Singapore aged between 20 and 79 are estimated to have the chronic disease, after correcting for age differences between the countries. Only the United States fared worse, with a percentage of 10.75.

To All Friends, please understand diabetes and take good care of yourselves.

Diabetes is a serious disease with lots of awful potential complications. I'm working on curing my type 2 diabetes right now. You can read my story at my website:

My diabetic website

A fasting and intermittent fasting support group I head up for Arkansas.

There are some Amazon affiliate links you can ignore on my site. The Resource page on the support site has some great links to articles on the benefits of fasting and intermittent fasting.

Yes .. serious disease with potentially awful consequences. I'm very interested in reversing diabetes. I've been working on that the past few years. I'll take a look at your content .. looks interesting, and very useful!

Good to hear from you again, Norleila. My mother ended up going blind because of her diabetes. I don't think a lot of people realize the dangers of the disease.

Take care.

Thanks Darlene. Time flies just too fast and don't seem to be able to catch with it. Anyway good to see you too.
You're right, people don't take diabetes seriously. Maybe they don't see the complications that can arise from diabetes. To them it's just another illness contracted. Thus health education is necessary.
Hope to be able to spread the message of keeping good heath.

Have a great day Darlene and take care :)

That's interesting about Singapore. I would guess that Cuba is probably in first place. The island is a large sugar plantation!

Well Michael whether Singapore, Cuba or any other country, the main culprit is our way of life. We have failed to live a healthy lifestyle. If we could correct our eating habit, lifestyles, I believe we would have a better health.
Understanding health and illnesses is a key factor. We cannot live ignorantly. Knowledge is our first step to good health and combating chronic illnesses like diabetes.

The best of health to you Michael :)

Diabetes is a serious problem. We are swimming in a sugar world

Yes..a very serious problem. When the disease is not brought under control and the blood glucose levels stay high, the risk of complications like neuropathy or nerve damage, kidney damage, and heart problems increases.
We have to find ways to take ourselves out of the sugar world or at best how to counter the disease.
Thanks Peter for your comment. Hope more people are aware of diabetes and its dangers.
