Hi Everyone
I've been working on some video ideas for a fledgling YouTube channel this morning, and I began to wonder. I follow a few folks on YT and I've seen something that is quite annoying, at least to me. Most folks these days have some version of an intro, usually around 20 seconds or so, at the beginning of each video. I tend to click past the intro, saw it once or twice, don't need to see it again.
What is the purpose of these intros, and are they really necessary? I suppose they are a form of branding, but what I don't understand is how they work on a persons psyche? Also, I'm wondering if I should create one, or just shrug and move on?
One other question comes to mind. Those pesky ads embedded in a video. Does anyone actually watch them? The ad is shown, and usually you have the option of skipping the ad after 5 seconds. Oh well, I guess in some way that I can't fathom, ads are money.
Thanks for dropping in and reading. I would really appreciate your comments on this to help me understand the nature of all this.

Shahlla, so good to see you. You always brighten my day. There are more coming. Just working on a few things with them.

I use the time the ads are playing to straighten up my desk or take a few deep breaths or pet my cat. So that's how I handle them.
Yup, when its convenient for me, I'll let the ads run so I can grab another cup of coffee or other things that pop up.
Thanks for dropping in
