Thanks for The Memories
Mourning the loss of a loved one. Yesterday my sister called to say that her father-in-law passed away friday evenening. He talked to his son (sister's hubby) a little earlier that day and said he was tired and ready to go. An hour or so later, he lay down for a nap. He never woke.
Glen (ficticious) was an amazing man with a history one could write about for a long while. Beloved father, friend to many. He played baseball for the Phillies. Korean war vet. On and on.
Glen lived into his 90's. He was the kind of guy that when you first met him, you instatly liked him. Always a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face. Glen was the epitome of Live, Love, Laugh. He always had a story to tell, and a joke was never far from his lips. Truly an amazing man.
Yesterday, I told a member that I would be taking the next couple of days off, but this morning, I decided not to. We live in northern Nevada and he lived in southern California. Travel is kind of out of the question for now. The family has decided to put him to rest in the manner he desired, and hold a memorial in mid August on his birthday. Wifey and I will attend.
I'll spend most of the morning with family on various phone calls. We'll mourn together, we'll remember together, we'll laugh together. Most importantly, we will celebrate his life together.
Glen, you will be missed. Sadness, but great love and affection for you will live.
Greg
