Updating Old Content

Like many others, I occasionally struggle to come up with new blog post ideas.

So I go back and look at my older blog posts to see if I should update them.

Reasons to update old content include:

  • adding new content (new videos, for example)
  • learning new techniques to add
  • revising or updating keywords to stay current
  • reaching a new audience
  • eliminating strategies that don't work (anymore)

If you have not seen Brian Dean's blog, it is a worthwhile read. He does not have many posts on his blog, But they are very indepth.

And as an example of updating content...

Brian Dean just updated and upgraded his list of "21 Actionable SEO Techniques" initially published in 2016.

His post is easy to find. Search "brian dean seo techniques" and it should show up in position #1.

Enjoy!

You are welcome, Taniela.

I'm with you on updating old content. One thing I learned from Jay was to "fetch as google" after updating so google can crawl all over you post and improve your ranking.

So true! Google loves it too when you update old content, so that's even one more benefit of updating old posts.

Thanks, Jeannine. Yes, another benefit!

Nice report to search and study. Very helpful. This is because sometimes it becomes difficult to keep contenting and you might want to upgrade. Thanks, I have flagged to revisit.
