Scammers Want Broke People
The simple fact is scammers and unethical marketers look for broke people.
If you are broke, they are looking for YOU!
Why?
Because broke people are easy marks.
The scammers know most broke people are desperate to make money now. Consequently, they lower their guard against fake or false marketing claims and hyperbole.
They have a bunch of tricks to use on broke people. You may have seen them. Here are four tricks.
1. You will see ads saying you can make 193 dollars in the first week. Or 39,832 dollars in 90 days.
These numbers are fictional as is the time frame. They just sound better than saying "make 200 bucks the first week." Or one week or 90 days sounds better than 1 year or 18 months.
But I do know several people who have made millions. One made $1.6 million one year. But what he does not say is that he spent 600 thousand on advertising.
Another makes millions. He has publicly stated that he has spent 12,000 a day on Facebook ads. If you are broke, you cannot compete with that.
2. They say it is free to join. They don't tell you it will take forever unless you buy their upgrade. And if you buy the upgrade, they will offer you an even better upgrade for a bigger price.
3. The ads will say they will do all the work for you. Really!? If that's true, why do they need you? They don't! They only need your money.
4. Another sneaky trick marketers use is to price everything ending in 7... like 17, 37, and the popular 67 and 97. Pricing studies done years ago show more people buy products with pricing ending in 7 than other numbers. But I doubt if there are recent studies showing this to be true today.
Note: You see many prices ending in .95 and .99. Studies show that more people mentally round down to the nearest dollar rather than up to the next dollar.

Funny you should post this. I was talking a friend out of a scam on Friday morning. They showed him a chemical process to turn blank paper into real money notes. So they were saying they need him to bring R100,000 (approx $7500) in hard cash to treble it and share the new money 50/50. I told him gently to stay away as he was totally bought into it as he desperately needs to money. To make matters worse he was contemplating using a clients deposit for that. Glad he came to his senses and told me he is not going to pursue it later in the the day.
More of them should be brought to justice and be prosecuted. Is great that you are exposing them.
Nice post, Glen. Scammers come in all shapes and sizes; you never know what new angle they'll come up with next.
Thanks, Debby. It is so sad. Sometimes it makes me wonder why scammers put so much effort into ripping people off when they could have created a legitimate business.
Just like people who make drugs - they have to be intelligent to come up with ways to make illegitimate stuff and half that brain power put to good use could do so much!
You are so spot on with your comments. It's so sad how many desperate people become so vulnerable to such vultures! Sometimes it's these terrible experiences that may just turn their misfortunes around... and find a supportive community right here!
Cheers Gina
Thanks, Gina. No doubt many of us here at Wealthy Affiliate have been scammed in one form or another.
