Lame Excuse for Disapproving a Comment

I had a recent website comment disapproved for a lame excuse.

But first,

I failed to understand that not everyone is concerned about user experience. They focus on sales or whatever the current Call to Action flavor is.

Here is the reason:

Disapproval Reason: leading people away from my call to action to find hotels using my website not helpful for my website

Seriously, Dude!?

The website is promoting hotel AND airfare deals to Tokyo, Japan.

Not everyone can afford a good hotel and airfare to Japan for a vacation. Budget travelers need to save money somewhere on a trip.

So if there is a way to show your website visitors a way to save money (in pricey Tokyo), it gives them a better experience visiting your website. They may be able to make use of airfare deals if not the hotel deals.

My comment suggested the use of the NewSanno Hotel (military MWR facility) for those military members and veterans who want to travel to Japan but can't afford it. Japan is a popular destination for veterans because of past and present military presence in the Far East (Korea, Vietnam, etc).

Onward and upward.

ADDED NOTE:

I have enjoyed my many trips to Tokyo. From visiting Akihabara, the famous Tokyo electronics district, the fabulous food, night clubbing in Roppongi, and seeing Kabuki at the Kabukiza Theater. And I will never forget riding the Tokyo subways at rush hour where white-gloved subway attendants push people into the subway cars!

If the owner was smart about it, he or she could have written a review of the hotel you suggested and then hyperlinked that hotel name in your comment.

Just an idea :)

I agree, Neil. He could have done a number of things to improve the user experience.

I think you have the point added to the discussion that would enrich the site but the owner thinks it's not right.
If I were the owner I would have approved it.

yes, it would have been additional content with another keyword. Thanks, Jimmy.

Let it go, Glen. It is their loss as Laura stated.

They probably did not think it through and see things as you do.

All the best
Maxine

Thanks, Maxine. It was gone yesterday! The mini-rant helped. Onward and upward!

You're welcome Glen and by the way you're positively a winner!

Glad to have you in my network.

Lots of great advice and experience.

Peace and love
Maxine

Thank you for the kind words, Maxine!

My pleasure Glen.

Glen,
You can only please half of the people half of the time so
I would not let it bother you :(
Susan
Sorry

Thanks, Susan. It was just annoying to spend time that was not appreciated. But I've moved on to other things.

I got disapproved for a comment on the most incoherent article I’ve ever read. I shouldn’t have bothered commenting on it at all!

I may have seen that article! I didn't leave a comment because I didn't know what they were saying. I also don't leave comments where my comment would be longer than the article/post.

Glen,

This person could have easily turned this comment around to build credibility for them. Their loss.

Laura

Exactly right, Laura. Thanks!

Nice rant Glen. I agree your commenter sounds like they are too caught up in dogma over CTA's rather than common sense:)

Kaju

Thanks, Kaju. I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks Glen:)

Wow! Not fair! Somebodies being paid off, somewhere!

f

It's happened before. And, no doubt, will happen again.

Next, Next...Next.

Just proceed onward and upward Glen knowing that you left something of value behind that just was not realized.

Have a glorious day.

Paul.

Thanks, Paul. You too have a glorious day.

Happened to me too a while back. I just put it down to tunnel vision really. The thing is, if you really know what you're doing online, you can provide a response to any comment you might receive on your website to redirect your visitors appropriately.

I agree with that. I seldom disapprove a comment. Even approved a spam comment once as a teaching moment for other readers.
