Is Your Stolen Content on YouTube?

Unfortunately, Wealthy Affiliate members' website content is being converted into videos and posted on YouTube.

Blog posts are being copied word-for-word by a video software application and converted into a video with a voice over (text to speech).

You may want to visit this YouTube site to see if any of your content has been copied. From what I can tell the Blog titles are also copied. The link is

https://www.youtube.com/user/viraltrafficmachine/videos

There are several Wealthy Affiliate reviews as well as a Jaaxy review done by WA members. One I found is this:

There is a source link for the content back to the WA member's website. I think this is an excuse to justify using third party content without permission.

Each of the videos has a pre-roll advertisment of about a minute that runs prior to the start of the lifted content. So the intent is not so much to share your content on YouTube as it is to drive traffic to the affiliate links included in the ad.

Regardless, this is a violation of YouTube Terms, unless prior approval has been obtained.

Thanks for sharing, Alan.

You are welcome, Alan.

But wouldn't this be a good thing based on the high ranking of you tube, if you do get a referral click from this, would you get credit for it if they purchase?

Only if the "thief" sources the content back to your URL.

Ok good to know

None of my content appears to have been copied. Should I be insulted?!!

I would not be insulted because they have no interest in your content. It is only used to add their advertisement in front of the video content.

Besides, there are others copying the same method and posting to YT as well. I have not found any yet.

Something else we need to look out for. I certainly hope YT get on top of it.

Derek

Do have a copyright clause on some of my sites, must do it for them all.
Many thanks for this.
Stuart

in addition to adding a remove RSS feed plugin, are there other ways to prevent this from happening to us WA members?
This isn't the first time I read about this.

Few WA members blogging about content theft and exact word for word from newbies looking for shortcuts to make a fast buck instead of doing their own content. Now they are doing it in YT. My question would it help if we could put a disclaimer at the top before we write our content.

Disclaimer: "This Blog Belong to the Property of...Copying and stealing this content and materials within are prohibited by (depending on which Country Govt Law-in the US Cite the Federal Law Code) law (subjected to criminal prosecution-depending on the law) and cannot be reproduced without written permission from ....."

Worth to become a member of Copyscape? We can go to that site and type in our URL. It checks for plagiarism.

We can use one of their banners to put at the top and it might ward off the perpetrator from stealing.

This is what I will do for my blog website. This is serious business and copying content or doing word for word is actually against the law. That's why we have copyright at the bottom of our website, still, people still try to find shortcuts.

We know from high school English Class and also from college students that they are not allowed to write their paper by plagiarizing the content from anywhere. They must write in their own words and they are required to cite their sources and must follow the format (APA, MLA) depending on the course content. If they get caught cheating the system or plagiarize grounds for academic dismissal.

This is common knowledge. No excuses, but we've been getting a lot of spammers, spam bots, and all these kind of trickeries that are going all around on the internet.

I hope the person gets her situation solved already. It's a good thing that many of these social media have this TOS.

I feel it's worth putting a disclaimer there. This shows we are being ethical and mean business.

Thanks for suggesting some ideas to combat plagiarism.

I imagine the website code could be edited to eliminate the RSS feed. But a plugin is simpler for most people. However, there are people who rely on RSS to distribute their content to subscribers.

Why not put a copyright page on your site, I have on some of mine but not all, must do that.
Stuart

Thanks Glen,

This is appalling and I hope YouTube does something about it...

I left a comment on the video.

Hi Lyn, I saw the post you wrote on August 24, 2018 and now someone has copied your content word for word and published it in a video on April 18 2019, 8 months after you wrote the article. This is the worst case of plagiarism I have ever seen and I hope YouTube does something about it. Good luck!

I sure hope YT does something about this.

I saw ads for free youtube accounts. Looks like black hat junk/scam.

Unmitigated gall. Hard to stop this kindvof piracy, too. Maybe Kyle and Carson will intervene at some point.

Thanks for commenting, Hal.

I added a Remove RSS Feed plugin to my site. So at least they cannot automate the copying of content using the RSS feed.

I believe they are using the "Your Instant Video Empire" software to scrape content from RSS feeds.

I'm not sure if I can do that on my Tales of the Road Warriors site because I host my show notes for the podcast there. My podcast host relies on the RSS feeds to distribute my content and to make it possible for visitors to stream my show directly from TotRW website. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it for any changes or out-of-the-ordinary hanky-panky.

Hi Glen,

Thank you for sharing this issue to the community, in order to let everybody know and be aware of their hard works not being copied or stolen.
In my case, I accidentally find out and there it was alive and perfectly done professionally.

Once again thank you and I do really appreciate all the efforts you put in on this issue.
I'm wishing you a great time and best regards,
Lyn

You are welcome, Lyn.

I hope your issue is resolved satisfactorily for you.

I went back and check on Google and find out that the video I reported was no longer on the first page though my post is holding on the first of Google, Bing, and Yahoo 1 position.

I'm sure YouTube is taking care of this issue.

Once more thank you and have a good day,
Lyn

Thanks for sharing this Glen. If enough people report the videos YouTube may take action against the channel.

I sure hope so, Rey. I would not like to see my content taken and used to drive traffic to another product.
