Life Changing Events (LTEs)
So, here's the thing.
The beginning of a new year usually causes us to reflect on the recent past and think about making changes to improve our futures. We set goals, and call them resolutions at the beginning of the new year in hopes of making them come true during the coming 12 months.
We want to change our lives for the better. We're inspired and determined.
Problem is, at the end of the year, we look back and realize that we didn't reach those goals, and most of them were forgotten about after a couple of months.
What happened?
Here's my thinking, as a grand master of failing to accomplish new years resolutions.
I believe that the reason that a lot of us don't stick with and accomplish our resolutions is because the beginning of a new year is not a LIFE CHANGING EVENT (LTE), unless we make it one.
LTEs happen to us many times during our lives. The birth of a child, the death of a loved one, winning the lottery, getting into an accident, getting married or divorced, getting a new job, getting fired, even something small like changing schools or moving to a new area, all of these are usually LTEs that are thrust upon us, and after such an event happens our lives are altered.
Life is not and never has been a straight line. We veer back and forth between the things that happen to us as we move forward day to day. Maybe "veer back and forth" isn't the right phrase. We change course slightly to adapt to changes that happen to us. Sometimes that course change is permanent.
We react to an LTE either positively or negatively, depending on the nature of the event, and our individual makeup. Some of us can have a negative event inspire us to overcome and move forward, others let a negative event drag us down into a self-defeating spiral.
So, here's a question. I know that a lot of LTEs are thrust upon us, and we have to react. Can we manufacture a LTE as a choice, to change our lives? I mean, can we consciously make the decision to make a change and then follow through so it really is a life changing event?
Of course we can. People do it all the time.
When you joined Wealthy Affiliate, was it a Life Changing Event? Has it become one, or is it becoming one over time?

Good Morning grant,
Yes, WA has been life-changing. These now 2 years were full of joy and heaps of frustration. That is because I do not like machines so I have a love/hate relationship with my computer/websites = technology. But here I am as I like it and also as I have met great people here.

I have learned to take every new year and do what I know best to do and at the end of each year I can look back and count my blessings, goal setting isn't for me I get more done in being one with with the universe.
Living each day as it comes, sometimes there will be turbulence but you learn that it always passes and tomorrow will be a better day.
I feel like this year will be a very good year all round.

happened for me in 2018 - until finding WA I was lost
and in a very bad place - now I have a purpose and I
am to succeed no matter how many times I take the
training or fail - this is my dream to have an online
business and I will make that happen working 12 to 18
hours a day at WA

Great message, Grant. I am looking forward to this year for WA to really become an LCE. With retirement on the horizon focusing on my site will become the priority I hoped it would become earlier.
